Went to the lawyers today and signed checks! I gave each of my 3 sisters a $1000. So I gave up $3000 out of my $8000 which I will pay taxes on. I was encouraged to do that from the lawyers office. At least, I will have no regrets! Thanks for listening…….

Atleast, I got a BIG laugh 😊. In my mind, I had not gotten to the end of finalizing the estate. Bottom line……I just never thought that would be a question from the lawyer.
Yes, it is alot of work…….one sister didn’t help at all ( she already bullied me out of a ring that mom gave me), one sister took many pieces of furniture, jewelry and filled her car as mom laid there dying, the other sister snickered mom out of her car for cheap a few years earlier and jewelry. I’m not troubled by all that anymore, but wonder how much more I will “hand over” to make others happy. I want to decide soon so the lawyer is able to finalize things. I gave them all they asked for, so I was shocked I’m not done giving🤷‍♀️
Take the money! Your greedy sisters seem to think that since they are the girls they are entitled to the jewelry, etc. I have a sister in law like that who took all the jewelry, photos and recipes and two U-Haul truck loads of furniture because she was the "only daughter." Her brothers took only one-three things because they knew their father, who was going to sell at auction, really needed the money. They planned to buy what they wanted then. But guess what? Their sister bid against them! One finds out who someone really is when it comes to family estates!

Cliff’s Aunt Alta Mae skipped her father’s funeral to ransack his house. Took all the family photos and various keepsakes before anyone else had a chance. About a month and a half ago, chatting with my mother in her living room, she happened to mention she keeps some cash in a drawer to pay various handymen. That was news to me so I had her show me the $500 she had in her sweater drawer. My comment to her was to be sure my sister (who lives with my 90 year old mom) knew that I knew there was a cash stash so that there would be no awkward “where is …?” conversations. I am executor of the estate and I fear it will get ugly real fast.
