I have been looking to exchange through II and have been experiencing difficulty. We have limited dates we can travel, due to work and school restrictions. I see a 1 bedroom available the week after Christmas at Cabo Azul Resort, which states maximum occupancy of 4, although the villa seems spacious. Should I book it and will they allow 5 (my daughter is only 4 and sleeps in bed with us!)? How likely will a 2 bedroom open up and, therefore, should I exhibit some patience and wait? Any other suggestions on locations during the week after Christmas for a family of 5 (not all-inclusive)? Many thanks!

I would book it and pay the $59 for E-Plus. That secures the 1-bed for you now and then allows you to upgrade should a 2-bed open up.

Are you only looking for the Christmas/New Year's holiday? If so, I'd take the Cabo Azul exchange IF you can verify they will allow five in the 1BR. I would NOT book it without checking first. The holiday weeks 51-1 are really high demand in Cabo, so make sure you have an ongoing search AND check online daily. If you're open to Thanksgiving or summer vacation weeks, you should be able to find something that will work better for your family. Vista Encantada Spa Resort & Residences has some amazing larger suites and there's been a lot of availability in Interval. There's a discussion about the resort here: https://tugbbs.com/forums/threads/vista-encantada-spa-resort-and-residences.293301/

If you are open to other times of the year (summer), Villa del Palmar often has rooms and sometimes 2 bedrooms available...

Unfortunately, our travel times are restricted, as we usually do our home resort of Harborside of Atlantis during the summer. My husband is a school teacher and the only other time of year he can take an entire week of is the holiday break. Thanks for all your feedback!
