Is there a resource similar to the below for Marriott:
http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109418

I'm specifically curious about trading a Marriott home resort for another Marriott, would that still be done inside II? You would book a high demand week at your home resort as early as possible, deposit to II and then search for what you're hoping to trade for? Do I understand that correctly?

Thank you.

Yes, if you bought a Marriott resale, you would use Interval to make exchanges to other TS, including Marriotts. If you own a Marriott (weeks or points) you get a 24 day preference period on most viewing of other Marriotts. If you think of it, that advantage is HUGE (if you are looking on exchanging into another Marriott).

Also, when you are exchanging a Marriott, you REALLY need to get your request in first because you do not see the 24 days of inventory when you look at what is available in the Interval inventory.

All of those matches have already happened so what you see is the "left overs".

I do a lot of Marriott to Marriott trading and i always set up an ongoing search 1+ years in advance in order to get the best chance of matching.

Obviously setting up an OGS is the best way to get a match. Though even some of the left overs that you see sitting in instant exchange online does have the Marriott preference attached to it. For some instant exchange inventory a Marriott week can see it but non Marriott's can't.

I did not know that! Thanks for letting me know.

Just did that last month, it took two weeks to get the match:whoopie: :whoopie:

We will be purchasing Ocean Pointe next and have wondered how easy/difficult it is for Marriott owners to get another Marriott using II with Marriott preference.

Keep in mind that ALL Ocean Pointe owners belong to the Florida Club which gives you direct access to 5 Marriott Resorts in Florida. This is a big plus to be able to book to another resort at the six month mark without the hassles of I.I.

Do resales qualify for this and if so, is Oceana Palms part of the 5?

It's very easy depending on what you are after, but I don't think I would buy Ocean Pointe to routinely exchange elsewhere. There are cheaper and/or better options for M to M trading. Buying Ocean Pointe is necessary if you are after the Platinum season because it is so difficult to get on an exchange. This is especially true for Feb/Mar. Gold and Silver season is very easy to exchange into, especially with an OGS.

We want the platinum season and will use it most of the time, and only occasionally will want to exchange.

That will work then. Just be aware that Ocean Pointe has quite a few snow bird "residents" and owner rentals. These people will routinely book consecutive weeks 14 months or more in advance. It leaves fewer units for single unit owners wanting to book at 12 months. With well over 50% of the owners wanting the middle two months of Platinum season, the demand far exceeds the supply. It can be tough to get a specific week and/or a desired unit location.

We love Ocean Pointe...

We really love it too. Thankfully we will have some flexibility during the platinum season.
