Hi, I'm new to this timeshare thing. Last year I purchased a resale 1 bedroom for 2 weeks at the Grand Mayan. We have since upgraded to one of the 1900 sq ft 1 bedroom Villas at the Grand Luxxe. We have 2 weeks that we can use this year and do not pay any maintenance fees unless we use those weeks. We are thinking of going to Las Vegas for a week and I was wondering if I would be better off just booking one of the getaways with II or should I be exchanging a week. Can anyone tell me any advantages one has over the other? As the maintenance fee is much higher for our Grand Luxxe property, if I were to exchange it, I assume that I would book a week in Mexico and then deposit it with II. If we exchange do we still pay the higher amount even if the Las Vegas property is much less?

Thanks for you help.

Hi and welcome to TUG!

You will pay your regular maintenance fee if you deposit your week. Renting a Getaway is probably a better deal.

I would agree with Denise that Getaways can often be a better deal then exchanging. One thing to keep in mind is to make sure you don't let an exchangable week expire at the expense of booking a Getaway instead.

Yes. make sure you can use your week. I think there should be some very cheap getaways in the Las Vegas offseason.
