Exchange for summer Breckinridge lockoff

I have a question about exchanging a week 24 lockoff unit in Breckinridge, CO. I am thinking about purchasing the unit, but would probably be interested in exchanging the unit at least 2 out of 3 years. The week is red according to RCI which is the affiliated exchange company. The price seems good and MF look manageable. I am just worried about the exchange value. If I exchanged a year (or the earliest time possible) ahead of time would I possibly be able to get Hawaii or somewhere in the Carribean for the exchange. I am new to this idea of T/Sing so kind of worried about the first purchase even after reading all the great articles and information on the sites. Or would I be better off looking for a good Branson (also within a days drive) resort that is a good trader. And if so how do I really know a good trader when I see one. It sounds like just because it is a red week may not make it a good trader. Just hate to be disappointed that I wouldn't have enough trading power to get a week I would want somewhere else. Any advise would be helpfull thanks.

Which exchange company does it exchange with? I have a summer floating week that I exchange with II and it does pretty good, I reserve a July week most of the time. Breckenridge has an elevation of over 9,000 feet and that does cause some people problems. Branson is overbuilt, so I would think that Breckenridge would be better a choice. There are probably better options out there if you are looking for a tiger trader.

It exchanges with RCI I believe. I am not a member of either so could I have a choice which one I choose? We are looking to exchange, sometimes go in the summer, and also sometimes exchange for winter. Since it is a lock off I was thinking we might be able to go in the summer (it is a fixed week 24) plus exhange one of the lockoff peices to maybe go back in ski season. I am kind of scared of floating weeks at this point, so I am only looking for fixed weeks, ski season or summer red season (and summer only if it is a lockoff unit). I figured Branson was overbuilt but someone on another thread mentioned they got good trades with theirs.

We own a summer week in Breckenridge (with lockoff) and I've been very lucky with exchanges I think. Not sure which place you are considering purchasing. Our T/S trades within II, not RCI though. I've been able to trade for Marriott Newport Coast Villas (So Cal) in mid-June. With our deposits we got a bonus week which is being used for Arizona in early June next year. I still have deposits with II and have seen Big Island, Hawaii in summer 2010 as an exchange. Our T/S is classified as 5 star.

Ours is a floating week, but I was able to get week of July 4th booked, then deposited with II for trading. I think I called about 3 hours after the phones opened (on the first day possible) and got my week with no problems.

Thanks for the reply. We are looking at Woods Manor, I don't think it is 5 star but it is on the bus line. Any info on how this place trades would be appreciated. I am waiting on my membership email to arrive so I can check out what TUG says about the place.

It says RCI Silver, so one step down from Gold.
Here is what I found on the TUG review board.
