I love the childrens miracle network wristbands that they sold where you can get your room key on the wristband. Checking in at Manor Club yesterday found out that they have changed the electronic lock system and the old wristbands no longer work, and they do not have new wristbands at this time. Changed about a month ago and is supposedly system wide. Real disappointment and we will see how many key cards I lose this week :)

Just letting people know before you get them out and cart them to the resort. You should at least check if you resort has changed.

We soon discovered that the US wristbands and most (quite possibly all) non US wristbands were incompatible.
It will be interesting to know if the “new” standard will be system wide or not?

I hope we can just exchange the original ones for the new ones and not have to pay to get the new ones.

Fat chance, I’d guess. But I agree that would be reasonable.

I have no problem purchasing new wristbands if the money will be going to a charity.
I don’t think all the money has ever gone to a charity. I think for a while they were selling wristbands where they donated a dollar (or something like that) for every wristband they sold. That’s my recollection at least.

I bought a couple wrist bands years ago..not sure what MVC property it was at...not sure if it was a dollar or five dollars….last year we were at the Aruba Ocean Club and one of our wrist bands didn’t work and the front desk manager was kind enough to give us another one.

This was the initial release back in 2015…..

Marriott Vacation Club Partners With Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to Offer the First Wristband Room Key to Support Charity

[Salt Lake City, Utah](Sept. 24, 2015) — Owners and guests of Marriott Vacation Club will no longer need to scramble to find their room key. They now have the option of wearing it around their wrist – while supporting local children’s hospitals – at more than 30 participating resorts.

Marriott Vacation Club, a supporter of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®, has teamed up with RFID Hotel to create a waterproof, adjustable Miracle Band Key, a wristband that resembles a hospital band. With it, Owners and guests can easily access their rooms and other resort facilities. Marriott Vacation Club is the first hospitality company to use the RFID wristbands to raise funds for a charity.

Owners and guests will receive a Miracle Band Key with a $10 donation (or two Miracle Band Keys with a $15 donation) to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. All donations go to the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital to help sick and injured kids in that community. ...

Oh, I stand corrected. I didn't realize the wrist bands were "free" in exchange for a donation. They never offered these on the Vistana side so I didn't find it useful to get any for "just" MVC, I mist have glossed over the details.

We just had ours switched out for free at Maui last month- they said they couldn’t reprogram the ones we had because some resorts codes can’t be overcome with new codes. Looked exactly the same as the old ones we ‘purchased’ we our donations. No mention thst they were being discontinued.

That was also back when they had those plastic bands with all the holes and a snap. Like a hospital band. Thankfully I never remember seeing those and only had the rubber bands that you could easily slip on and off.

I really like the wrist bands, and have to admit purchasing additional bands when I forget ours at home.. I guess i will probably buy new bands if they won't work with the newer locks.

We’ve visited multiple resorts on the same trip in the same area where one resort had already converted to the new entry locks and another resort hadn’t. We haven’t bought any new wristbands yet.

I love the wrist bands. The are much more convenient than a key card. They are worth the expense. We have about 8 of the old ones- but I am certainly willing to buy new ones if necessary (though I will definitely try for a swap first!)

On our recent stay in Paris- I asked the front desk if the bands could be programmed there and she said sure- then disappeared for a minute and came back with bands and programed them and just gave us 2 of them for free, rather than us having to come back later with the ones we already own to get them programmed.

Interesting. I’ve owned for twenty years and have never been offered a wristband.
I checked into Grand Vista yesterday and inquired about the bands. I was told by two different managers that the bands are not being changed. My bands were activated without a problem.

We bought them at Ocean Pointe and I think I lost them. I was hoping they would not work so I could tell my wife they were no good anyway.

They are usually displayed where you check in and have a sign that states proceeds go to Children's Miracle Network. They are reasonably priced and many of the wristbands work at multiple resorts.

We are really new but have had 3 stays this year and also never been offered a wristband for purchase…it would have been really convenient for the parking gate at Grand Vista, assuming wristbands work on the parking gates.

They generally don't offer them. I've never actively been pushed to purchase a wristband. Usually there is a small display behind the counter or sometimes on top of the counter showing the bands. You need to ask about them.

Unfortunately I've found that the bands are inconsistent when used for entry and pool gates. Sometimes they work but are finicky. Often times they don't work well and I resort to a room key. This is more true at security gates than pool gates. For this reason I keep a single room key in the car to use when returning to the resort to get through the security gate.

thank you- we had such issues with the gate :ponder: my car is low to the ground wristband probably wouldn’t have helped.

Another problem with the band at the gate is you have to reach farther than if you just use a key card. The card gives you a few extra inches of reach where the band takes away a few inches. I find it easier to just use the room key when going through security gates.

Had to actually kick passenger out to open gate every time we returned to the unit. So yeah wristband would not have helped. But I have a soft spot for Children's miracle network- so a little extra donation is ok by me.
