This week I was offered a clever Encore package that I declined. You can get a good rate on a rental at about a dozen of the most challenging in the MVCI system.......... 4 nights $1195 and you get 50000 MRPs if not in the most challenging months...........add $700 for the toughest months and get 75000 MRPs if you agree to a 90 minute presentation. Mostly 2 BRs except for Hawaii 1 BR and Ritz Vail a 3 BR. Inventory has been set aside and it sounded like you have a good chance to get your first choice. I was looking at Vail and would have added some of the cheaper DP days that week.

Where were you offer this encore? I was offered the same thing at MCV last month. I declined. Don't need another vacation. Having trouble figuring out what to do with the vacation time I already have.

I got the same offer at Canyon Villas this week. Seems much better than the previous one.

Always get the promise of "set aside" inventory being easy to use, but not sure if that's totally true or not. Was tempted for a four night stay in Myrtle Beach in August (not a premium month), but was gun shy on if I'd get my dates that month, so I passed.

good morning....

When I was offered this, I snagged the reservation # for the "encore" availability directly from sales rep. We then immediately called and of course the "good stuff" was not available.

Once they have your $$$ you have no guarantees of any availability

The part I bolded got me to thinking. . .

The sales team in the lobbies are so aggressive to sign up guests for a presentation because they get so much per booking.

Then the sales rep gets a chance to sell DC points or bundle for a commission.

After that comes the Encore. Does anyone know who gets a commission for selling these and if there's an added bonus if it's booked with another presentation? These Encores seem like a clever scheme to sell off surplus inventory to fill vacant rooms.

Last month we had friends at OP who added an Encore to their other 2 weeks. It was booked at the front of their stay. She had contacted the rooms control ahead of the stay to request that they be put in the same room for all 3 weeks and gave desired locations. She told me she called shortly before arriving to see if there was any problem with this and was told none. When they arrived she was surprised to find they were booked in a first floor unit. Besides that they didn't get into their room until late, I think after 6. When she asked why, the person in charge of rooms control explained that the week was an Encore week and is at the bottom of the pot for location. They agreed to move after that week and were put in slightly higher room for the next 2 weeks.

Shadow Ridge

I was offered this Encore package at Shadow Ridge. I am curious to see if they want us to sit through a presentation next month in Marbella? I am thinking that when San Diego comes on line, that might be a good one to execute an Encore deal. Keep in mind that when asked the likelihood off adding to our portfolio, we said zero and were still offered encore.
