Just received an email from Grand Vista

Marriott's Grande Vista Owners and Guests:

We are looking forward to your arrival at Marriott's Grande Vista Resort!

Please note that during your stay the resort will be undergoing renovation in the Golfside Village. This will be ongoing until March 3, 2013. There will be intermittent construction noise from 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. each day due to this resort enhancement.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these necessary enhancements to the resort. If you need any assistance planning your vacation or have any questions, please contact our Vacation Planning team.

Only problem is I do not have a reservation at GV.

Perhaps that is Marriott's surprise generous bonus week for your recent wildlife invasion problems?

Did you have a reservation or exchange that you cancelled/re-exchanged? It is possible that if you did the reservation was given to someone else but still has your MR number attached to it. I have had this happen in the past and even receive the efolio of the person that got my cancelled exchange.

This is very interesting. We got that same email this morning. We have never stayed at the Grande Vista and do not have any reservations to stay there at the current time.

Is this a reservation number on these emails? If so do a reservation lookup and see what name it is in.

No, I just looked and there is no reservation number on the email.

Like Barb, I have never been to Grand Vista, never exchanged and cancelled etc. Really strange.

I have replied to the eMail to ask for an explanation. I will share the response if/when I get one.

I would hope for a little more - perhaps ! Mind you dinner on the rsort was quite expensive - the steaks were $60 a piece and fries were extra !!!!

See Post #4 in this thread. If the phantom reservation doesn't wreak havoc with your account in any other way, I'd give them a day or two to fix whatever's broken before calling in and being on hold with all the others.

The mystery is solved. I just received this email about their system error. It didn't really inconvenience me all that much, except for a few minutes wasted checking the Marriott account to see if we had any reservations I didn't know about. :)

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to a system error, you may have recently received an email notifying you of a stay and construction at Marriott's Grande Vista. Please disregard this message as it was sent in error.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Sincerely,

Marriott Vacation Club

Got the same email too. Also an apology from Grand Vista.

I wonder what renovations Marriott is performing, if indeed they ARE performing renovations on the golfside villas. Does this mean the golfside villas will be refurbished and/or renovated by Mar. 3? We're checking in on Mar. 16 and we always request one of the golfside villas, but the past couple of years they have been getting a bit shabby on the inside and I was thinking of trying a different building or location this year.

Maybe someone who will be down there in early March can check back and let us know.

Yes, Please let us know what they are renovating. We have a family get together/ golf and spa trip planned for later this summer, and would like to know which units to avoid.
Thanks!
Mish
