Hey everyone,

Okay so I’m trying to get an answer and hoping you all can help out.

I have 24640 points, but since I bought my two deeds resale and after the change I do not have elite status. My question is if I buy a deed at Craigendarroch, would my status change to Elite since I have enough points already and will be combing with the Craigendarroch deed.

Thanks!

Your elite status is based only on the elite qualifying points. If you buy Craig Lodges now, then your elite status will be based on those. For example, our resale Blvd do not count toward our elite status but our Craig Lodges do.

There is only a few elite qualifying locations now. Almost all the HGV properties will not count via resale (used to be only retail) but now if you buy them retail, you are put in Max instead. There is a handful of resale locations, like Craig Lodges, that still work to get in Elite and to raise the levels....

I was told by the HGVC resale agent at The Charter Club last week that they still qualify for elite status.

A verbal statement from a sales agent is not binding.

That being wrote...
My resale deed for GI is now part of my elite qualifying points. This happened during an owner's update with purchase of HVC points.

I have heard (maybe you even reported along with some others) that your resale was able to be used to qualify as Max Tier level. I know at my last owners update, the salesperson stated that I would qualify to Centum+ which would defiantly require resale qualifying also (supposedly this came from corporate after reviewing my account). I would need to get that in writing also, but I wasn't interested. But technically you are not in the Legacy Elite level program, you are in the HgvMax Tier level program (of course, unless I miss understood something).

Elite or Max Tiers? If you bought retail HVC, then it would have put you in Max and then they have the option to pull in your resale to raise your Max Tier level but that is not Elite. Elite is in the Legacy program

Agree, I would always suggest to get that in writing from the agent.
I have gotten them to add it to some of our Craig Lodges, when the scare went through about Craig losing Elite, but our latest ones we haven't. We are well over the 54k needed though so I wasn't worried about it.

I'm admittedly not clear on some of this - and completely confused on other parts (e.g., MAX v "legacy elite")

We have 13,440 points bought from Hilton (I KNOW!) at Marbrisa which we purchased year(s) ago. If we bought a Craig resale, would those points count towards achieving elite status?

Are there downsides to buying Craig resale? MF look overall pretty good, kinda in line with Vegas. Sooooo, I'm not sure what I am missing here?

Thanks for input.

Craig is a RTU not a deed and you need to think about the exchange rate, but besides that there are many upsides. If you Marbrisa points are elite qualifying then the Craig point would at to them for Elite status. You are now able to exchange them in DEX also plus the low closing cost.... To me, no real downside. You can't trade them in for retail, I guess that is something to keep in mind.

Our retail bought over a decade ago combined with our Craig purchase qualified for Elite. We asked for it in writing. A resale deed we owned did not qualify toward elite.

I believe Valdoro resales also qualify.

I purchased a resale from an HGVC agent in SW florida and was surprised to find that it qualified as a HGVC purchase. So I have Elite (entry level) status.

So if the agent works for HGVC I would have them prove that somehow and write a statement to the fact that purchasing from them would qualify for Elite status. This is happening in Scotland too. But get it in writing.

Your explanation reads relevant.

I was Elite Premier in Legacy. I moved into MAX a couple of years ago and that Level name changed to Premier+ - then last year, the conversion took place with a resale deed (46k) conversion to Centum+

Now, my next question. Are there owners that are still "Legacy" for status?

Yes, I am still also Legacy Elite Premier. I don't see ANY benefit to move to HgvMax. In some respects for me it would be a downgrade (maybe minor) but then why should I pay for that privilege (because the HVC resorts don't really interest me)?

And you can get them much further out via DEX

True, plus also looks like much more availability in DeX than what is being reported in HgvMax exchange into HVC/HGVC Embarc properties.

Destination Exchange

It is the DRI exchange that they just opened up for Craig Lodges owners to deposit in. Actually, DEX EU. There is also DEX US and they have open it up to Plantation owners to deposit in.

We can deposit our Craig week and book any DRI/HVC/Embarc property about a year out plus other properties that Diamond has a partnership with.

They have a deal for each week you deposit you get a bonus week so we deposited 2 and received 2 bonus weeks. We have already used our bonus weeks. One we used to book a week in a 2 bed OV at Cabo Azul and the other a 2 bed premier unit at HGVC Sandestin (prior Embarc) next spring break.

So, Max can book into DRI at 6 months but those that exchange into DEX, get up to and over a year.
