Elite Calling Priority

Just wondering if Marriott Elite owners, or some of them based on their actual level, get calling priority.

I am a resale owner and I am considering going for Elite status. I am pretty far and it would take a significant investment. I just spent 45 minutes on hold trying to modify a resie.:wall:

That would have taken me 5 minutes all in with Starwood. I attribute that largely to my status.

Any thoughts on this?

Executive status and above in the DC have an exclusive call in number as per THIS Benefit Guide.

Not sure that access alone is worth a "significant investment". Only you can make that call.

Thanks. Priority calling is not a good enough factor. But, I do value my time and might enjoy the perks. The question in my mind is, do you get a good return on your investment? That is a very personal answer which vary from person to person. I know it's not for me now, but hopefully it will be soon.

If you are a "weeks owner", there is no advantage to your "status" when calling to book. Maybe there is if you are a points owner.

Why do you say this? You have the same elite number as the points owners and the 13-month priority when booking consecutive or concurrent weeks.

It does not matter what your Elite status is, Silver, Gold or Platinum Marriott Rewards members. Everyone calls in on the same day at the same time.

Marriott Rewards is not MVC

Marriott Elite has no priority for MVC. Marriott Elite is related to the Marriott hotel brand, not Marriott Vacation Club. Only the owner levels within MVC have potential priorities. But none involve Resales.

But elite levels have a separate number which at least in some cases shortens the wait time. Several months ago I mistakenly called the general number to do a transaction and was on hold for over 30 minutes before I realized this. I then hung up and called the elite phone number and got right through. Then to verify that this was the difference I called the general number again and was on hold for a few minutes which "proved" the point to me and I hung up.

That was my expectations. The same happens with Starwood.

I have the "Presidential" phone line and it is very fast. I only use it for 13-month reservations. The website gives instant gratification most of the time.

I see you own several/many timeshares. As you probably know already they are not good investments. Most of the people on this board will never recover their principal purchase price when selling. Timeshares are for people who have extra money and like to travel. Or at least they should be.

I love my timeshare but the last thing i would call it is an investment.

They are a travel investment for me. I rent the ones I don't use which pays the maintenance fees on all of them plus the cost of the flights on the trips I take. I just was billed $6,000+ for maintenance on 3 of them a few minutes ago, and the other bills should hit any day. It is comforting to know that I have the rental income in my timeshare savings account. If I decide I want to take a cruise instead, I pay for it from the rentals also.

I agree that they are not an investment in the financial sense. However, I call them an investment because they force me to get out of the office and spend quality time with my family. The kids love it and the memories we've created as a family are priceless...YMMV...Certainly more than the 250% return YTD in my investmentment accounts.:ignore:

I started the thread because I value my time a lot. Having the perk of expedited call response is very important to me.

Will I recover my initial cost? Probably not completely. But I will recover all my Harborside investment. I know I can recover my Westin St John Pool Villa and actually make some money. I can recover most of the Hawaii units cost. The FL and SC units are certainly a loss. However, my TS balance sheet is exceptionally in the black because of the memories. Just my take on timesharing...like I said, YMMV...:D

So I can call my Platinum reservation line, that I use to book hotel rooms and book the weeks 13 months out for my timeshares??? Or are you referring to the MVC "elite"?

I would agree about the "investment" value of my/our timeshares as a financial investment. They are a wonderful convenience for my wife and I and "commits" us to actually enjoy the weeks of enjoyment they bring us. Beyond that, as real property we will pass them on to our children who will be able to continue using them and perhaps along the way think of us <g>. As for elite status, all I know is in Marriott Hotels (all that we've used reward points for) in Hong Kong, Venice, Rome, Milan and Abu Dhabi they seemed to insure that we were treated like royalty - upgraded rooms, free breakfasts and other amenities.

I believe he and others are referring to the MVC status tiers and the MVC telephone lines reserved for Chairman's Club, Presidential and Executive Members (and not the status tiers or telephone lines in the Marriott Rewards Program.)

That is correct.
