Once owned these: FirstFairway@Walden X 2; Lawai Beach; ManhattanClub; PuebloBonitoRose; 4 South Africa--now timeshare-free
Does anyone have one of those where you upload digital pictures and the pictures change every few minutes? If so, please tell me about it--is it easy to use? how much does it cost? Thanks for any info.

We bought one of these for Ian's dad while he was in the nursing home. It was easy to upload the pictures to - just like uploading to the computer. The one we bought mounted on the wall and we kept it running 24/7 for over a year. When George died, we brought it home, but did not have the tools to take the wall mount. When we went back the next day, the wall mount was gone. So I do not know how long it would have lasted.

Never had any problems with it. Three years ago, our cost right at $200. I am sure that they are a lot less now.

I have one in our family room that was given to me as a gift about 4 years ago and the disk is easy to update and quite enjoyable. However, IMO they are far more expensive than they should be, although they do seem to be coming down.

My TV is better though...with the $100 Apple TV on it I can load pictures on Flikkr and have my pictures play with music which is great if you have a bunch of people over for a party...and I can also tune into Netflix, iTunes etc.

I recieved one for Christmas. Easy to upload photos and to use. Even came with a remote. I had it on for a week or so, but haven't turned it on since. Easier to just load on computer and watch whenever I want to or as another poster stated on a TV. I would never have spent the money for it as its nice, but......not really necessary item, just more clutter to dust.:D :ignore:

We received one as a gift a few years ago & use it a lot. It is loaded with vacation photos. We found it to be quite usefull to show our elderly (& not computer savy) parents & other family members our vacation photos without the cost of getting them printed out. We simply plug in the camera card & turn on the photoframe.
At the nursing home where I work many residents have them loaded with family photos -a great way for them to see out of town family members.

If its a gift for someone, consider the Kodak Easyshare. With it, you can upload photos remotely. Sort of cool to be able to add and change photos for the recipient or owner of the frame.

We have a Sony one that we received as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. It works pretty well. I wouldn't buy one myself as viewing our photos on the TV is a lot better. I just put the photos on a DVD/CD and plug it into the TV. The DVD/CD also provides storage for our photos.

We were about to buy one before we bought our iPads. We use those for photo slide shows and also use Apple TV on our regular TV screen.

Friends bought one for us and I love the idea - I just have to take the time to get some pictures loaded. We're not huge picture people, never get prints made so I like the idea of just being able to put them on their, enjoy them and forget it.

We bought one for my MIL and another for my mother. I think they are likely in a drawer somewhere collecting dust. I wouldn't buy another. IMO, they were a fad that just really doesn't make sense.

I have had one for over a year and it is sitting int he box in a draw...I took it out once, started ont he directions and put it back in draw...LOL

Can pictures be loaded from a different location across the Internet? Just wondering if I bought one for our in-laws in a different city, if we'd be able to load the pictures for them.

It depends on the frame. Those with this feature usually have wifi access and require a wireless router to connect to the internet with. It is this that allow you to load photos to it from anywhere.

I find mine easy to delete/add/replace pictures. Just take the SD card out, plug it into a computer and just drag the pictures you want to it, and then put it back into the picture frame display.

LOL - easy if you have a computer and know how to use it. Now, my 80 year old in-laws... different story. I was kind of hoping you could get a frame that worked like a Kindle/Nook, and allowed you to update pictures from a different location. Seems like that would be a good concept.

I saw one advertised the other day that can have photos sent from remote locations. I would like this so my children could surprise me with updates. I have the older one and don't keep it updated.I have the iPad so I can use it.
