I think the problem is with you relying on a person with potential memory issues combined with heavy drinking to retrieve your mail when you travel instead of using the USPS hold service. Why are you asking her to pick up your mail at all at this point, and texting her when you leave? Add a few days on the end date of your trip for the hold stop date and go to the post office and pick up your mail just after you return.Yesterday we got to it before she did. Today we forgot to grab it before we left and it was there at 3pm. We laughed about being so excited to see that our neighbor didn't grab our mail! I am not calling it a victory yet, but it looks like a step in the right direction. My husband is the world's most patient person and when he sees her, he has been reminding her that we are home and assuring her that we will text when we leave for a trip. Fingers crossed.
