Elara Resale?

Is there a way to tell if an Elara resale is an HGVC unit? We are NOT interested in an old Westgate deed as we want the points! All the Elara resales in the TUG Marketplace say "Elara Hilton Grand Vacations Club (Planet Hollywood Towers", and other sites don't really say. Are the Planet Hollywood Tower units HGVC or the old Westgate deeds? Any other indicators either way?

I've searched on here and I did not see a direct answer.

Thanks

As far as listings go, you are at the whim of the person who listed the deed. I have found if it says floating week with week numbers listed (or partial week), it usually an Elara deed. The key is the estoppel. If it has Planet Hollywood Towers, it’s a Westgate deed. If it says Elara, it’s a Hilton one. The points listed will also say 90 for a Westgate deed.

A few years ago someone posted a Westgate deed for Planet Hollywood. It looked exactly the same as an HGVC estoppel, but had the above info I place of of the normal.

I don't think there's an easy way to guarantee whether it's an HGVC vs a Westgate deed based on an ad, unless it's from a trusted broker.

So your options would be:
  • Go through a trusted broker
  • Ask for a copy of the deed which will tell you if it's HGVC or Westgate
  • Ask for an estoppel and make sure the points allocated to the week correspond to the HGVC points chart. Below is the estoppel for a Westgate deed at Elara issued by HGVC. Pay attention to the points allocated on the bottom right corner of the page. In this case, it says 90 points. There are no weeks in the HGVC system that is allocated 90 points, so that's an indication it's not an HGVC week.

Excellent information! Sounds like there is some risk with buying a resale there. To minimize it, we definitely need to use a trusted broker and see a copy of the deed/estoppel.

That’s the estoppel I remember!
