El Cid Resorts still available?

I have been trying to book at El Cid in Cozumel and it shows no availability at all for the next year. We have been going to El Cid Cozumel for over 10 years now through CW. I also looked at the other El Cid locations in Mazatlán and others, and none of them are showing any availability at all for as far as I can see in the future. We are Founders and have about every kind of points and contracts that there are, so it isn't a case of our membership type.

Has anyone heard if CW is dropping the El Cid resorts, or vice versa?

Wyndham and El Cid are no longer affiliated in a timeshare system. It happened in 2018 when Wyndham Destinations and Wyndham Hotels separated. Even more separation has occurred in 2021 as Wyndham Destinations bought and then changed to Travel and Leisure.

You probably need to call Wyndham for the official reason or maybe a reservation. You could also exchange through RCI. I doubt you can make the reservation through the Wyndham website.

I didn’t think it was hotel related. I thought it was that the timeshare contracts had an end date that they reached in the last couple of years.

I'm not positive on the how or why Club Wyndham and El Cid aren't together anymore. Club Wyndham's parent company did split the hotel side away from the Club Wyndham side back in 2018. Then Wyndham Destinations, which was the parent company for Club Wyndham bought out and became Travel & Liesure around 2021. Marriott Vacations partnered with El Cid in 2022. Maybe because the Wyndham contract ended ? idk.

Does El Cid still show up on the Club Wyndham site as reserve-able ? This isn't the first time I heard about Wyndham and El Cid being no longer affiliated.

The contracts having an end date makes sense.

We had rooms booked through CW for this month (October 2025) and we booked them earlier this year and decided to cancel them last month in August. When I cancelled the two rooms we had booked, there was still some availability showing up for later in the year, and next year. I believe that they may have parted ways, but they still show in CW as an option, just no availability showing up. It just seems strange that they were showing availability as of last month, and we had rooms booked for this month.

We have been going to El Cid for over 10 years, although we skipped a year last year. We will be extremely saddened if they are no longer in the CW family... CW needs a resort on Cozumel!

Thank you. Yes, I see them in RCI, but no availability in CW. There are no fees to book in CW and also we need 10-12 days which isn't possible in RCI.

I am just more curious as to if this is a permanent thing and they ended their relationship or if it is temporary, or maybe just a glitch in the CW website.

Curious, are these all-inclusive resorts? Did the points cost cover the all-inclusive?

All El Cids show as optional All Inclusive in my RCI weeks acct.

6701 La Celba Beach Cozumel is their only listed location not in Mazatlan Mx.

@dioxide45 - a number of TUG members owned resale El Cid / Wyndham contracts -and I believe the per point MF cost was advantageous.

El Cid resorts are "All Inclusive Optional." When we booked with CW it does not include any all inclusive benefits. We greatly prefer that as the food at the resorts tends to be "Americanized" and they have fajitas and tacos and a lot of typical things that you would get at a Mexican restaurant in the US. Cozumel is amazing once you get off the main road. Taxis are cheap compared to other Caribbean destinations. For example in St. Thomas we paid a min of $10 per person each way for a taxi to take us from the resort to a restaurant in Red Hook (3 miles). We had 8 people, so we paid $160 plus tip, round trip, if we left the resort to go to lunch or dinner.

Cozumel is $8 for a cab to just about anywhere on the island, paid per cab, not per person. We love to get a cab and tell them, "Take us to a local restaurant that you would take your family to, and where we won't see any tourist or cruise ship people." Just a few blocks off the main road is where local fare can be found, the food is absolutely amazing, you leave full and you can have lunch at dozens of places for under $8/person, and an amazing dinner for under $20/person and many times less than $12 if you aren't getting lobster or steak.

So we hop in a cab and go to dinner at a different place almost every night.

We have been going to El Cid in Cozumel for over 10 years through CW. We know the staff and consider them family. I think that I have actually sat down in their restaurant and had a meal on site maybe 6-7 times. Usually that is if we do breakfast or a quick lunch.

Plus we can cook in the unit and the grocery store is a quick cab ride a couple miles away.

We have been booking El Cid in Cozumel for many years and we typically book between 2 - 4 rooms depending on who we have coming with us.

Great Idea - I am going to do that in Puerto Vallarta next Feb.

Hi Matt @mgaiser
A couple of thoughts based on your above post # 10 .

1) RCI: If you explore this option ; look at Extra Vacations not just exchanges.
My weeks acct. showed EV pricing that was very competitive with my TPU [ trading points] + exchange fee cost

2) RCI :Only Studios showing [ no kitchen ]. Some Mexican resorts will upgrade you if you agree to a presentation
Obviously this is based on availability when you check in - and could be difficult at peak season time in Feb.
Your resort contacts might have insight into this.

3) I have seen El Cid rentals / resales in TUG Marketplace but nothing is currently showing.

4) I checked RedWeek and there are no rentals showing, and two [overpriced] resales

5) SMTN has 140 resale listings . Best pricing was $900 for 405,000 points annual / MF $1812
[Note : points values seem to somewhat mimic Wyndham & Intervals is also listed as an affiliation]

6) You may wish to do a TUG Marketplace "Rental Wanted" post & see if you hear from any El Cid owners.
