Greetings all and Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving! Seeking a couple of questions RE: Edisto. We have never been and are trying to book.

1. What is the difference between a 1 bedroom suite and a 1 bedroom? (and do they both have washer/dryers)

2. I have received advice (thanks Joan!) that says I only want to stay at Village, Marsh Point and Bay Point - when I look at the Wyndham booking site I can't get that specific - Is there any way I can specify? (see pic below - the Village is lumped with Southpointe AND Bay Point with marsh Point I & II, Sea Oaks, Sea Palms

3. Any general advice to offer?

thanks all!

We stay in Marsh Pointe and the one bedroom is a king size bed and sleeper sofa. Full kitchen and laundry. Also Marsh Pointe has elevators and the heated retract cover pool is located there. no elevators in the village and lots of stairs if on the second floor.

You can guarantee yourself the Village, because it only has 1 and 2 BR units, and Southpointe only has 4BR units - so if you see a 1 or 2 BR with that header, it will be the Village. I like the Village and we chose it for our vacation next summer because it has a nice pool right there, a hot tub, and we like the location. But my second choice was to book a 2BR loft in the Sea Oaks/Palms area, and I've heard good things about those units as well. The Village, Marsh Point, and Bay Point (as well as the 4BR units in Southpointe and Beach Walk) are all "outside the gates" which matters if you want to rent a golf cart, but not so much otherwise. Bay Point is the only section right on the water (though it's on the river, not the ocean front side), and Marsh Point is the only section with elevators in all buildings. But I've also heard good things about the sections inside the gates as well, if golf cart usage isn't an issue.

Thanks for these - helpful info! Does anyone know the difference between the 1 bedroom suite and the 1 bedroom?

In general (not specific to Ocean Ridge in Edisto):

Smaller (~550 sq. ft vs. ~700 sq. ft.)
Partial kitchen (e.g., smaller fridge, maybe no oven, less counter space)
Often no balcony or patio
Usually no washer/dryer
Most likely the view would be different, could be just a window to a corridor

Click on the two types of unit to get some detail.

wonderful - this is very helpful! thanks
One more thing -- bedding might be different, a queen instead of a king, for example.

Ocean Ridge has so many different locations. Hard to make categorical statements about the units.

Sounds like it would be advisable to contact the resort directly about unit differences.

Agree, I have found them to be pretty straightforward as to where I might land based on what I booked. And they did take a request for something I wanted, giving me an honest expectation of the chances of getting what I asked for.
