I lost a ebay bid on a auction by qualityvacations. Soon after I received a second chance offer although I was third high bidder. The offer was sent to my ebay account form ebay. The seller of the original item was Joel Richwagen the item number of the second offer is 160202690239. The offer is for a sale for my max bid. Qualityvacations sells many units so could it be this is another item similar to the item I bid on that they are offering. I called the number listed in both auctions and the person who answered said this is Joel. He also said this was a similar unit. Does this sound true and has anyone heard of Joel Richwagen.

Thank You Tuggers

Many second chance offers are fraudulent. However, if you spoke with the person at the number listed in the original listing, it sounds like you are dealing with the right party. Many of the timeshare sellers on eBay are in the resale business, so he could have multiple units. You can always have him fax you a copy of the deed, and of course you should close through a reputable closing company.

I've Received Lots & Lots Of eBay 2nd Chance Offers -- All Bogus.

I have never received an eBay 2nd chance offer that was on the level.

Once I E-Mailed the seller to ask why I was getting a 2nd chance offer on an item for which I was next-to-lowest bidder. The seller E-Mailed back saying that no 2nd chance offer had been made. That's when I caught on. Now I forward all bogus 2nd chance offers to eBay for appropriate action.

Since eBay started hiding bidder identities from other bidders, hardly any more bogus 2nd chance offers have showed up.

I still get occasional eBay spoof & phish E-Mail now & then, but less than in the old days. I also forward that for appropriate eBay action.

I just received a fraud second chance offer where the power seller's account had been hijacked. Surprisingly, eBay was on top of it immediately because their warning about the fraud came at the same time that I received the offer. This link will tell you how to tell legitimate from fraud offers.

The only messages about auctions that are legit are those posted on your My Ebay page. If they only show up in you email account they are bogus.

I have purchased from Joel

I won one of Joel's auctions in October. He is part of VIN, Inc, the reseller in Orlando that has several brokers on EBay, each with a different EBay "handle". I found him to be straight up and easy to work with.

I would check it out to make sure it is really him, but if it is and you want the property, I personally would not hesitate. You can call VIN, Inc on Monday to investigate.

I've also purchased from Joel, whos with VIN, so I think that you've received a legitimate second chance offer.

They are a professional group to do business with and you should have no problems.

Thanks everyone for your input. I took the offer and it does seem to be real. I have called VIN and talked to them several times and they have my account. Timeshare closing also contacted me and it has already closed and sent to County Recorder. So it seems all second chance offers are not scams as long as it checks out.

Thanks for all the help
Steve

I have worked with Joel on a previous purchase. I would suggest having him fax you a copy of the deed as proof.

I've had many E-bay second chance offers show up on an E-mail account I have that is not even attached to E-bay. I also had a second chance offer on my E-bay account that I took. It was a legit offer and I now own that timeshare. If this second chance offer was through your E-bay account and you've spoked directly with the person listed on the original auction I'd say you could proceed with reasonable comfort that it's a legitimate offer.
