Do you give Easter gifts, candy, baskets etc to grandkids or don’t you do anything? Do you have an Easter dinner/celebration with kids or other family?

We usually do baskets for each of the grandkids, but we won't see anyone this year because of this virus. Better to keep everyone safe, including us.
I did send the older grandkids some Dolce Gusto caramel macchiato coffee pods for their fabulous coffee machine. I sent them 50 pods, so that should do the trick. The other kids will just have to wait for a special gift later on. I have no idea what to get anyone. Our granddaughter turns 3 on 5/2. I hope to see her. I bought her the new Jasmine dress-up costume from Disney for $100.
We don't have grandkids yet, however when my son was growing up did have nice dinner on Easter. I don't recall doing gifts beyond they typical Easter basket and egg hunt.
I love having an Easter egg hunt and dinner, but with 8 little ones 7 1/2 years old and younger, it’s getting to be quite the ordeal. This year of course, I’m not doing it. I still made the gkds each a basket and just not sure if I’m too cheap or doing too much. Right now I’m spending around $12-15 dollars a basket times 8. Interested in your experiences and what you’ve done or seen.
I have 4 grandchildren - ages 1 to a soon to be 6 year old.
They have a ton of toys, games, stuffed animals, crafts, motorized cars/jeep etc. as many other kids do. One of my daughter-in-law's would be happy not to bring anymore in the house half the time.
For Valentine's, Easter and Halloween I give them $ and I buy a small sweet to attach to the card/tape it - Peeps, lollipop, chocolate bunny/heart, etc. Something appropriate for the Holiday.
For Christmas - I will give $$ and a toy/game in the $20-$30 range.
For Birthday - I will also give $$ and sometimes a small toy/game but not necessary.
They get a ton of gifts from others and my son/parents.
I know the parents save every dollar they get. I used to do the same for my kids.
This year we were planning their first egg hunt but it's a no go.
No grands here yet, but I'm of the opinion that the best gifts are not things. It's the making of memories that's important. One set of my kids grands spent money on them but very little time. The other set spent time with them and gave trinkets rather than expensive toys. The kids love and appreciate both sets, but the bonding experience is important too and they didn't get that from both sets, sadly. So, to the OP do yourself and them a favor, spend time with them and no one will be disappointed!
Our grandson is about to turn 21, so is past the Easter basket stage.
We live in a cul-de-sac with 8 children ages 3-12 and our group has always done an egg hunt along with a pot luck dinner on the Saturday before Easter. Dinner was postponed, but the egg hunt is still scheduled. The kids like to do it at night with flashlights or the headband lights. For our modified hunt, one adult from each family will hide some eggs in each of the 5 front yards around dusk and then about 30 minutes later the 8 kids will get to go out to hunt the eggs. The adults will be in their own driveway or on their front porch watching. I put quarters in my eggs this year as I had purchased plastic eggs when they first came out, but did not buy candy yet. I had quarters in our change box.
On the subject of spending time with them, we babysit our grandchildren. My two sons are 15 and 20 minutes away. Many dinners together and almost all holidays. Even though I always knew and have said that I could never move away from them (maybe a month of snow birding ) - this quarantine is making me miss them like crazy. Last night was a bit tough.......I want to hug them, kiss them and play with them. So happy for FaceTime. It's almost three weeks that we are not in the same room
Our local, independent, downtown bookstore is doing "mystery boxes" for $25 INCLUDING SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE US. I have had friends and family order this for loved ones for Easter. You just have to let them know a genre, an age, and interest...and they will ship the books to your loved one.
I love, love, love this idea. Because we all need more books. Always.
We do baskets for all, and hide them, who wouldn’t enjoy a treat no matter ones age. It’s just fun. Easter eggs as well with one GOLDEN egg for each hunting. Each golden egg has a different amount of $$ you can only find one. When eggs are all found before opening up the golden egg they can trade each other if they want, than open up and see who got the prize and who got the dud.
We try to have family time with the young ones and color eggs together. My wife just did this with our 2 1/2 yr old granddaughter while babysitting and she loved it! We have a Easter basket decoration on our table with blown out eggs that have been decorated with markers by loved ones and signed.
We have a traditional Slovak Easter meal I put together ham (baked & boiled) , sausage, hard boiled eggs, sour cream with horseradish , sirik ( scrambled eggs boiled with milk, cinnamon , sugar, pressed in cheesecloth)
And last but not least Paska rubed with salted butter on top. That’s homemade sweet bread that’s just awesome , a tradition we have is it’s made Saturday evening so it is fresh for Easter. Who ever is around gets to sacrifice a hot loaf and sample it to make sure we are not going to poison anyone.
I look forward to this more than any other meal. Guests will bring other side dishes.
I always have a basket for my kids, even though they are adults now. We've always done something special like going camping, having a nice meal out with extended family, etc. This Easter was going to be the first time I wasn't going to be around. My husband and I were going to be returning from a Disney cruise on Easter.
Just remembered yesterday that it is Easter this week and tried to order stuff online to send to my kids, but wasn't able to come up with anyone that would get there on time. Too many places are closed. I sent them a text last night and told them that the Easter bunny is doing shelter in place and can't even mail a package. One of my daughters said, "It's okay, Mom. The Easter bunny's job is non-essential."
I'll be doing online church like I've been doing every Sunday. I still get dressed up for church every week.
