Hello Tuggers -
I had a question regarding the DVC regional block on trading Fl. properties. Are you prevented from only reserving/ongoing searching with your blocked properties or is your entire RCI account blocked from trading into DVC? Say I own one Orlando week and another non-local week. Can I use the non local week to save up TPU's and put out a search? Or will the fact that I own a week in Orlando prevent me from ever trading into Disney regardless of which of my properties I intend to use? Thank you!

I believe the regional block only applies to your actual Orlando week(s). The non-Orlando week(s) should not be blocked from trading into Orlando. However, if you do a combined deposit (by paying a combine fee) that includes one or more Orlando weeks, then the combined deposit will be blocked as well.

I don't have any Orlando deposits in RCI, so perhaps someone who owns Orlando can verify this.

Also, this is how this is how the Orlando block works in RCI Weeks. I'm not sure how the Orlando block works in RCI Points.

In fact, if someone would explain how the Orlando block works in RCI Points, I would appreciate it.

In Weeks, tainting follows specific Orlando weeks. Any deposit (or deposit credit) that is not (derived from) an Orlando-area week, *and* has not been combined with an Orlando-area deposit (or deposit credit) can be used for DVC.

In Points, if any of your ownerships are Orlando-area, your entire account is barred.

Thanks, Brian. So, it seems your understanding of the Orlando block in RCI Weeks is the same as mine.

Let me just make sure I understand what this means. I think it means that if an owner has an *RCI Points* contract at an Orlando resort, then their whole *RCI Points* account is blocked from trading into DVC. If they owned an RCI Points account from an Orlando resort, and an RCI Weeks account from a non-Orlando account, could they trade into DVC using their RCI Weeks account?

OK, here is an even tougher example, in case anyone knows the answer. What if someone owns an RCI Weeks resort in Orlando and an RCI Weeks resort somewhere else. Plus, they have RCI Points that derive from a non-Orlando week. Could they add their Orlando resort to their RCI Weeks account, and still use their RCI Points account to trade into Orlando? This may seem like a far-fetched example, but I am in that exact situation. I own a Sheraton Vistana (Orlando) week that is not in RCI Points, some other RCI Weeks resorts that are not in RCI Points, plus I own RCI Points from a resort in North Carolina. I haven't wanted to add my Sheraton Vistana ownership to my RCI Weeks account, for fear it will jeopardize my ability to use RCI Points to trade into DVC. (And, I don't really *need* to add my Sheraton Vistana to my RCI Weeks account, since it's a better trader in II.)

One small clarification: it doesn't matter if you have some Orlando-area ownerships in your Weeks account. However, you can't use an Orlando-area deposit to exchange into DVC. Likewise, if you combine an Orlando-area deposit *or* deposit credit with a non-Orlando deposit/deposit credit, the resulting combined credit *is* considered an Orlando-area deposit line, and cannot be used for DVC.

OK, here is an even tougher example
I *believe* that if you add Vistana to your Weeks account that you can use the non-Orlando deposits/deposit credits for DVC, *and* you can use your Points account (which has only a North Carolina ownership) for DVC as well.

But, again---I'm not a Points owner.

JudyS - I'm a newbie here, I signed up because my parents own 3 timeshares and are in the exact same situation as you and had lots of questions. They have a timeshare (non-Orlando) in an RCI points account, and 2 timeshares (1 is in orlando, the other is not) in an RCI weeks account. We set up an OGS to trade into DVC, and were successful (well we confirmed back in Jan & have a RCI confirmation number DVC reservation #, so I hope we're good to go!). I was wondering if they could use the TPU from the non-Orlando property in their weeks account (assuming you are NOT combining the deposits). I would hope so. Has anyone else done a successful TPU trade in RCI weeks when having an Orlando property in the same account?
