Dry Rub for a beef roast

For a 6 pound beef roast:

1 package Mrs. Grass Onion Soup Mix
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon sea salt (more if you like a saltier crust)
2 Tablespoons Fresh rosemary leaves
2-3 Tablespoons vegetable oil or softened butter

Combine the spices.

Lightly coat the roast with the oil or butter and apply the spice mixture.

Does any one have any good recipe for a dry rub for a beef roast

Hi CMDMFR,

If you do a Tug Search several previous Tug threads on the topic will come up
and you'll have your choice of more than one rub that will suit your needs.

Bon appetit!

This is from America's Test Kitchen. The cocoa powder gives it an interesting twist.

For a 12 pound roast:

4 teaspoons onion powder
2 teaspoons light brown sugar
1 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon cocoa powder
3 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for low temp. browning)

This one sounds really good, and a good low sodium option.

Thanks, stored in my recipe file.

We found a super easy crock pot roast recipe years ago, and it makes an incredibly tender, juicy, flavorful roast.

1/2 cup water (you'll get more from the meat)
1 packet ranch dressing mix
1 packet Italian dressing mix
1 packet brown gravy mix

If doing it in a crock pot, just put in the roast, pour in the water, then sprinkle the three seasoning mixes over the top.

Mike: Do you brown the roast?

I haven't tried this recipe, but I've been very happy with their recipes, with rare exceptions.
