Dropping a Timeshare

Lol, are we guessing whether Hilda is a St. Bernard from Toronto or a Collie from Portland?

"On the Internet no one knows you are a dog."

What? Not sure what you are getting at.

when newbies show up and their first post is to tout a company by name that charges money to take timeshares off your hands...

it looks funny, shall we say.

not that you are necessarily a shill who is actually posting from the "give back" HQ...but it has happened before. several times.

My mother in law owned 3 weeks of timeshares (Las Vegas and Mexico). She was no longer able to use them and just wanted to get rid of them. She was unable to handle the selling of her timeshares herself so my husband and I took over the process. We did not have the time or inclination to research how to sell these timeshares and decided to use the Give Back Timeshares group. We live in Canada and didn't want to get involved in any of the legalities of doing this transaction. I know that TUG always advises not to pay anything up front when selling timeshares, but we did and have now successfully gotten my mother in law out of her timeshares. It isn't cheap. We payed about $6000. In about 4 years though, she will recover this money by no longer paying maintenance fees. There are timeshare owners out there, who I'm sure are in the same boat and just want out! From our point of view, Give Back Timeshares did the job for us. My mother in law owned her timeshares outright and did not have any mortgages so I think that helped in the whole process.

So, you "didn't have the time or inclination" to research previously and therefore were willing to pay $6,000 to a company to take care of it for you.

Only AFTER it is supposedly DONE and over with do you now find the time to "research", find TUG with a post about this company, spend precious minutes registering as a guest, and then type a large paragraph stating how pleased you were to pay this company $6,000. This is why it is hard to believe your post.

I am very familiar with TUG and all it has to offer...never had the need to write in before. I understand that some people don't want to spend anymore money on their timeshare when trying to "sell" it or give it away. Since this is a forum and people are looking for ways out of their timeshare, I wanted to share what worked for us. As I said, in four years we will recover the cost of selling by no longer paying maintenance fees. Not an option for everyone, but it worked for us.

Then you haven't read the good advice to give them away, and recover your costs in one day.

I'm sorry you didn't find TUG first - many owners have been successful in giving away their timeshare here on TUG, without paying exhorbitant fees.

As I said, this route isn't for everyone, but if you've tried other ways of unloading a timeshare with no results....here is another option.

im sorry but you wont find anyone on TUG who thinks that "option" is a good idea.
