Again I’m giving away 15000 points. Not selling. If I had a legit buyer I’d negotiate too. I understand your point. You want me to give everything away and pay for everything, I will do that with Hilton if nobody here wants it.

there is no appreciable difference in "selling" a dri resale vs giving it away. noone really collects the $1.

the issue is that with so many people looking to exit, and so few people who know about resale...its extremely common for owners to have to pay for all closing costs/fees themselves to attract a buyer. its a buyers market and always has been. if you dont wish to pay the fees, there are plenty of other owners who want out that will!

Again I’m giving away 15000 points. Not selling. If I had a legit buyer I’d negotiate too. I understand your point. You want me to give everything away and pay for everything, I will do that with Hilton if nobody here wants it.
In some cases it is cheaper to give it away to someone here and pay everything. DRI will be charging some high fees to use the program. I don't know the actual transfer fee with DRI to transfer to another owner, but I assure you it isn't what you were told when you called them. If you were offering to give it away and pay all closing, it might be cheaper than another year of maintennace fees. Though I think you might be a little too late.

Sadly, you fell into the trap everyone does. You are trying to get rid of your ownership when the maintenance fees are due. A lot of people do this. They get the bill and think, oh *bleep*, I want need to get rid of this. So you are now competing with far more people wanting to also get rid of their ownership.

DRI has a negative value on the external resale market. You have to be willing to cover at least all of the closing costs. Sometimes even be willing to provide a free year of usage to the buyer by paying a year of maintenance fees but they get to use the points that year.

Also realize you are still considered the seller, even if you have to give the week away or pay someone to take it.

Got it. I will wait then till the year end and then transfer it. No dues for new buyer then in November 2025. As I’ll use it till then. That way only processing fees.

You might want to start advertising in September, TS transfers can drag on and some systems want the next year fees paid if processing in December. I've experienced that buying HGVC resale.

That’s a great tip. I think by August I will advertise and if someone wants to take it and if not, I will surrender it in September.
