Dolphin's Cove and Disneyland

We will be staying at Dolphin's Cove in December. Is there an easy/cheap way to get from there to Disneyland? I don't want to pay $17 per day for parking.

I saw someone mention on an old thread about walking to catch a Disney bus. Anyone have info on this?

YES!

Take a right coming out of DC, then right at Denny's. Walk about 1000 feet then right into the Toy Story parking lot for the free parking shuttle. It's less than a half mile total.

PS put Dolphin's Cove into Google Maps then go to satellite view. The parking lot is huge and obvious.

It would be even shorter if there weren't walls surrounding the empty field between the back of DC and the parking lot.

It runs very regularly starting before the park opens and after park closing. I don't even think we waited 10 min for any bus.

We walked each day to and from the Toy Story parking lot. I think we rode the Woody bus? Very easy. No trouble at all using their bus.

Ty1on is correct make a right at Denny's and you will see the Disneyland Toy Story lot. It is FREE!

If the 1000 foot walk is too much, there is Anaheim Resort Trans. right outside the resort. It starts at $5/day for 1 day, and is less/per day for longer stays, and goes to other places than just D'land. More info here: http://rideart.org/fares-and-passes/

We took the Toy Story Shuttle every day - it's FREE! But you do have to walk - maybe 3-4 city blocks? from Dolphin's Cove, to the Toy Story parking lot. It's one long block, but about the length of 3-4 short city blocks.

(Which is about 1,000 feet - just like Jim said.) ;)

We stayed there in March and just walked. It's a healthy stretch of the legs, but we thought it was manageable. We had two adults and 10, 8 and 2 year old kids with us. The little one was in the stroller, but the rest of us were fine on foot.
 
Walking there is fine - but walking back after being on your feet all day feels 10 times as far!
 
Thanks. Might have to have my dad take the city bus but the rest of us will be able to walk to the Disney lot.

You don't need to take the city bus - the ART (Anaheim Resort Transportation) shuttle picks up right at the corner that Dolphin's Cove is on. You can buy the tickets from a machine in the lobby.

However, if your dad can't walk to the Toy Story Parking lot, will he be up to walking around Disneyland all day?

When we took my 90+ y.o. FIL to D'land a few years ago, we rented a scooter for him for the day. It was $30some, but made a day there possible for him.

Yeah. Right inside the park entrance kiosk just past the entry booths. There is parking for them at each ride where the strollers park.
 
I think the scooters are first come/first serve, and if I remember correctly you can't take them from one park to the other (but double check on that). When I took dd a few years ago soon after she'd had hip surgery we rented a scooter off site. They delivered, and picked up, from where we were staying. I don't remember the cost, but it was well worth it. We could use it to get from the hotel to the park (we were within a short walking distance) and go back and forth between the parks. We used it for three days.

You can take the scooters from park to park because the rental is between the two parks, and they don't watch to see where you are going.

Thanks for the update. Back when we were looking into it you couldn't. I don't know if someone was watching to see if one of "their" scooters was exiting the park.

Here is what I found on the Disney website. I was correct about the first come/first serve (you can't reserve them). But I didn't know you couldn't take it into Downtown Disney. I'm pretty sure we took dd's scooter there.

Wheelchairs and ECVs may not be reserved. Please plan to arrive early; a limited number of wheelchairs and ECVs are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are also invited to bring and use their own ECVs and wheelchairs throughout the Disneyland Resort.

Requirements

Rented wheelchair and ECVs may be used in both Disney California Adventure Park and Disneyland Park. Rented wheelchairs and ECVs are not permitted in the Downtown Disney District.

I was just there today, went to the auto show at the convention center across the street. I saw plenty of ART shuttles and the Toy Story buses, with lots of shuttle stops along Katella.

What you dont want to do is drive a car! The traffic was bumper to bumper and barely moved, there is construction with the curb lanes blocked all along the street across from DL. Hyatt, Sheraton, and the Convention Center all have major construction projects going on right now. I was glad I took the OCTA bus, saved me a huge headache driving and parking. I got off at Haster/Katella near the Worldmark and it was an easy walk for me.

You might want to consider an offsite scooter rental.
