Does anyone who visited the Hyatt Residence Club Maui recently (Fall 2024) know if the Tiki Bar (Pau Huaka'i) is still in business?

Aloha,

We are here on Maui and I always like to visit this tiki bar on the beach walk in front of the Hyatt Residence Club Maui. A number of Internet searches indicate that it is closed, either temporarily or permanently. I have tried to call Hyatt and also chat online with Hyatt, but I cannot get a definitive answer. It was open in March 2024, so I am hoping that the Internet is wrong. Looking for a nice happy hour today. Thank you for any help!

Weird, yelp says it’s temporarily closed but there’s a review from October 4. The hyatt vacationclub website doesn’t mention that it’s closed and the facebook page has no mention of it being closed.

Yep, I read on a few other sites that it is closed. I will have to go over there tomorrow and find out for myself!

Please keep us posted. I find it difficult to believe it’s closed down as it would be discussed on the facebook owners’ page and it is not!

I am happy to report that the tiki bar, Pau Huaka'i, is still open and hasn't closed even temporarily!

I submitted a correction to Yelp as soon as I got back from eating there (I am not a Yelper and don't have an account), and the listing has been corrected online finally  .

Here are pics of my favorite cocktails at Pau Huaka'i. And pics of the current menu (sorry about the glare).

I like how you think! :)
Pau Huaka'i has the best (and strongest) drinks I have had on the island. No one else has come close (maybe Merriman's/Monkeypod's mai tai, but those haven't been consistently good and I could not even finish 1/2 of my Monkeypod mai tai last week). Duke's drinks have basically zero alcohol in them unless we order wine or beer.

I even had a Pau Hana at Mama's, and it didn't seem like there was any alcohol at all in it. It is a very pretty drink, and tasty, but really had no gin in it for $27 (or some price like that)
