Does anyone know how to get rid of bananna trees?

I am sure we need to cut them down, but is there anyway to kill them? We don't want them to come up again. thanks for any information.

I don't know, but try calling your county's "extension service" and see if they can give you the info you need.

I gasped when I saw your post!!! :eek: I live up north and love my banana tree. I bring it in every winter along with a few hibiscus and pamper them till they can go back outside. Ship them to me, I would love them. ;)

I would bet you could find someone whom would dig them up and take them. Here's a link to a banana forum. Maybe they can help.

As you probably know, a banana "tree" is not really a tree but rather is a plant that will indeed grow back every year even if you cut it off at the ground. However, I assume a good dose of Roundup would do it.

Actually it's a rhizome, not a bulb. But, you still have to dig it all out to stop them from growing back. Unless the Roundup works.
