Pinnacle charges a listing fee plus a minimum of $2000 commission on a sale plus $775? Closing fee.. In the past, I have purchased non charter points from/thru Pinnacle when they had specific deeds/priority use period/PUPs that I wanted at La Cabana.
At that time, there would be situations where the purchase price the buyer paid did not cover the commission/closing costs and the seller would end up paying the difference. My last purchase thru them must be 6-7 years ago.
Contracts with charter benefits would be extremely hard to sell unless they had a highly desirable PUP ( think summer cabin at Big Cedar, Big Sky, winter La Cabana, Hammocks at Marathon) Back then, there was a specific threshold/price per point that must be charged but it was still lower than what BG was charging retail direct. Also remember BG approach to selling is "points are points" and only a savvy buyer understands the value and meaning of a good PUP. ( your right to book that underlying time at 13-11 months out before it is released to all BG owner reservations at 11 months)
BG has aggressively been exercising ROFR x 2 years. (Think inventory needed for Hilton purchase)
There are still listings for $0 on ebay and people giving contracts away for $0 but it is highly unlikely it will go to the buyer.
Resale listings of $0.33, $0.51 and even $1.01 have been taken by BG thru ROFR the past 18 months but some have gone to the buyer at those same prices. You just don't know. But comparing it to someone who posted here in the last few days that they were offered 4,000 points fur $12,000 resale is a great deal even at $1,00 per point.
@raykel Yes, there is a minimum price per point to sell with charter benefits. You can check the Pinnacle website or call them and ask. There would be a listing fee, minimum commission to sell and close ( used to be $2000 plus 775) plus a percentage of sale.
In 15 plus years of ownership, I have never met or heard of anyone buying or selling points on Pinnacle with charter benefits. And I belong to many Facebook groups with many thousands of owners. For 10 years I would regularly check their la cabana listings and the ones with charter benefits just sat there year after year while the other contracts sold.
In theory, you could sell with charter benefits and make back what you paid retail if you have been an owner for 15-20 years when price per point was much lower but it is highly unlikely.
