Several weeks ago I started going to a Zumba class twice a week at the recreation center where we live. It's an aerobic workout done to Latin music.

Anyone else doing Zumba?

Yes, the club I belong to started the classes about three months ago. The class is very popular even with the "senior" members. It is a great workout and a lot of fun!

No but I want to. I live remote to a city so there are no classes near me.

There's also a website. You can see some classes in action on YouTube. Just search for Zumba.

The class I'm in isn't quite as fast as the ones I see online. One of the gals in my class said she had been to another Zumba class in a fitness center with lots of younger people, and she said our class was more like "geriatric Zumba.":whoopie:

We have it in Sun City, but I'm involved in too many other fitness programs to start it right now. It looks like fun. I walk, walk with poles for upper body, do water aerobics, swim laps and play pickleball. I'll start an anti aging program in January that works on core muscles to protect backs, improve balance, help with tummy fat, etc. There is also one day of nutrition classes that we have to attend. I did the "weigh to go" program last winter and changed my life style and have lost most of the weight that I need to lose. Anything that gets you moving and that you enjoy is the way to go.

Just saw that my 24 hour fitness has this class on Saturday morning, so I think I'll give it a try. Hope it's the "geriatric version".:whoopie:

Good for you, Liz. It's lots of fun. My instructor said the main thing is just to keep moving. Don't worry if you mess up on the steps--just move to the music.
