Does a DC Points reservation count as Elite night?

I'm looking for a link to a T&C, either for MR or DC program.
Last month, I reserved several nights at Lakeshore for my cousin using DC points. Her name and MR # (Platinum) were added to the reservation. She didn't receive credit in her MR account, contacted MR twice (elevating to a supervisor the second time), and was told that DC Points reservations do not count as stays for MR.
SueDonJ posted a reference in a sticky

Thanks in advance!

It is my understanding, backed by experience, that elite night qualification is the same for cash and DC stays. I think the issue here may be that to get an elite night the same individual has to both pay and stay. In your case it seems that you paid (with your DC points) and your cousin (i.e. not you) stayed.

DC Points do count as paid stays for receiving Elite Night credit, if you actually stay. Since someone else stayed in your place (even with adding their MR number to the reservation), I assume no credit was awarded to them or to you.

You would think either one or the other of you would get credit, but in this scenario, Marriott credits no one. They consider the reservation as not from your cousin's MR account (because it was booked through you) and since you didn't physically occupy the unit for any portion of the stay MR treats this as a 'no show' (which under the MR Terms and Conditions) no MR points get awarded to your account either.

Nice, huh?

The information above is wrong. If a person stays on a DC points reservation and attaches their MR number to the reservation, it makes no difference who paid. Similarly, if you effectively "rent points" from an owner by having that owner make the reservation for you, you do in fact get elite nights credit if you stay and attach your MR number. I have made such reservations for others several times and they always get the elite nights credit because they add their own MR number.

I stand corrected. I confused MRP reservations and DC points reservations. My apologies.

I'm interested in the OP's experience. Has this issue been resolved? If so:-

Was there a mis-match between the person booking (i.e the name on the invoice) and the person claiming the elite night?

Or was Marriott Rewards just wrong and caved in?

Or was it something else?

Thanks in advance!

I just stayed 14 nights at Playa Andaluza using DC points. Checked out on 8th Oct. Elite nights and MR points had been credited to my MR account on the 9th Oct. It was an imporant stay - the 14 nights credit took me past 750 nights and so now I am lifetime platinum status.
