Do You Use Florida Club?

Hey SmoothAir! The weather is beautiful, sunny and warm!
I'm not sure. This is the first time that we have tried to get a day pass. I was under the impression that we could get one, but we were told that they do not allow that.
We are on our way up there to see the changes, hopefully they will let us walk the grounds.
We love Ocean Pointe! BeachPlace has been nice this week, but we prefer OP. Before anyone jumps in- we are in our late 30s/early 40s and we do not go to bed at 8pm!:hysterical:

Love Florida Club. We love the panhandle but also like being able to go to FLL or Palm Beach with out paying a fee.

Used it once. We own at Grande Vista and I used it for Legends Edge. So it saved me an exchange fee thru II since we wanted to stay in Panama City that year.

Used it this year for the first time. Got exactly what we wanted at Grande Vista for Feb. Do not belong to DC. Saved exchange fee with II. If the cost is only $4.00/yr as stated in earlier posts, I am way ahead of the game by just using it once.

My idea for using the Florida Club, aside from making a reservation I plan to use at Ocean Pointe or another location, was to make a reservation for a lockoff at Ocean Pointe and deposit the two sides with II rather than depositing a lockoff at Grande Vista. I'm thinking that the trading power of Ocean Pointe is greater than for Grande Vista (in general).

You may be right, but consider that you would be depositing that Ocean Pointe unit only 6 months out whereas you could deposit the Grande Vista units 12 months out. II has always said that the earlier you deposit the higher your trade power. So that Grande Vista week could still have better trade power in II than the Ocean Pionte week. I would suspect also that you could reserve a more prime week at Grande Vista where the more prime weeks would be gone when you reserved at Ocean Pointe at only six months.

I suspect that this may be true based on my experience. I've used both, and notice a significant difference between using Grande Vista at 12 months and Ocean Pointe at 6 months. I reasoned that since Ocean Pointe had a higher II demand, that it was perceived more valuable, but it hasn't worked out that way. MGV has proven to be the better trader at 12 months out, even though I've used lesser demand weeks. FYI, these exchanges were all platinum for platinum.

We have never used it since we are accustomed to planning out more than 6 months.

It's good to see some people have benefitted, but I would rather have the definite exchange through II than the uncertainty of the FC. Especially when we are purchasing airline tickets....

I think now with DC, at least for those enrolled, the Florida Club is obsolete. "Free" exchanges in II give us the ability to reserve, deposit and exchange far earlier than 6 months out and with no exchange fees and no lockoff fees to boot.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it may not be totally correct that DC has made Florida club obsolete.

My Grande Vista is worth 2175 points and I would require up to 4225 points to stay at Ocean Pointe through DC while I could exchange for the same unit for "free" through the Florida Club.

No skim in the FC.

I am comparing the Florida Club to exchanging through II under DC. There is also no *visible* skim to exchange through II. There is also no exchange fee in II. So I can reserve my Grande Vista week, deposit and exchange through II to Ocean Pionte for no fee. All at much farther out than 6 months.

The Florida Club may in fact work best for those who purchased resale weeks after 6/20/2010 since they are unable to join the Destination Club program.

True, and DC may only make the Florida Club obsolete for those that are eligible to enroll and in fact did so.

Understand. Thanks for clarifying.

Does anyone have experience owning a silver week at Legends Edge or Doral and trying to use the FC to book at Ocean Pointe? Ocean Pointe seems to get booked up before hitting the 6 month mark but I don't have much of a sample to base this on.
