I own several timeshares, but my best trader by far is my SoCal week. Recently received my 2010 week....and have been "playing" w/ trades. While I can pull some excellent ones, (thanks Rick & Cindy for some great sightings), I am hesitant to use it already:shrug: heck, you never know what may be out there in the future. ;)

I enjoy the fun of "the search"....and seeing what I can pull. :D Just hate to give that up now....and have to wait until next summer, when I can get my SoCal for 2011.:p

Anyone else feel the same?

Not Just Exactly, But I Think I Know The Feeling.

Anyone else feel the same?
No timeshare in our ( -- pardon the expression -- ) portfolio has the trade power of Coastal California, but we've managed to wrap ourselves around the axle on timeshare trades anyhow. I saw it coming but I could not do anything about it.

What's happened is that our baseline for exchange has become RCI Instant Exchange (minimal points + exchange fee) & RCI Last Call (exchange fee + zero points).

That makes us feel it's wasteful to trade week for week. Instead, we do Points For Deposit with our week(s), then use a small part of the resulting points total for Instant Exchange. We keep the "change" so we can use the extra points to make some more advantageous exchange reservations.

Ultimately, though, the only thing all the timeshare weeks & points are good for is exchanging into other people's timeshares, so we'd be miles ahead if we got ourselves unwrapped from the axle & just made timeshare exchange reservations for where we want to go when we want to go there.

Too simple, eh ?

I feel that way about our CO summer weeks that trade through RCI. The trading power is phenomenal with those weeks, and I didn't have them for such a long time because I used them. I deposited my 2009 weeks a few months ago and have trading power back again. :) I will hesitate to give them up, even for a great exchange.

I don't have a great trader--just very average-- but I hesitate to give that up as I like to search online. (Although I spend alot less time on the computer when I don't have anything available to search with) Dawn

I don't know the feeling..

Because I only ever traded my Sheraton Vistana 2 times..now I just point drop or point book....

I would love to have a tiger trader though...searching online would give me so much independence... although I do like talking to the Wyndam/RCI reps....often :D in search for that next trade.

I love to actually stay at my resorts. What a concept, eh? So this year I just plug in the reservation info and look around for gems that I am willing to go to if something better pops up. II isn't getting any deposits from me. I'll exchange ONLY if I spot a really great exchange. They are pretty rare. And, I really don't care much about getting the AC for deposit anymore. There just hasn't been that much available that I can drive to or at a time I'd like to go.

I have a DRI points account that is really fun to play with. That's how I got FSA, trading some bargain rate points for a time & place I could enjoy. The rest of my points will probably be used to actually book a few days here & there next year through DRI. Meanwhile, I can do searches and I haven't had to give II a thing!

I don't have a real wizbang trader but I do tend to try to keep my best one for searching. I hate to give it up and then not be able to see the stuff I see with it.
It's bad when the "search" is almost as important as the actual vacation (lol). Not really that bad but I do try to keep the best one for future searches and when I find something see what else I can trade to get it.

The solution is quite simple. Just buy more tiger traders! :p

That is SOOOO ME!

I always try to hang on to my best trader as long as I can, but unfortunately, I get "Hooked" when I see something cool and just have to book it! And I always double check it against my other traders to see if something else will pull it, first. HA!

It's all about the journey!:D

My worst TS got exchanged for studio in the FLEX time and I thought I was happy about keeping it but I canceled.
Next day I saw Disney Key Resort 2 bedroom out of FLEX time.

It became best trader from the worst. I still have it and I don't think I will give it up.
