Do we have a forum to exchange weeks/points with other TS owners?

I was just wondering if we have here in Tug bbs a forum to exchange weeks with other timeshare owners? I don't want to rent to non owners so exchanging sounds like a good idea. Tx

No, but you can post or look for an exchange in the TUG Marketplace.

as mentioned above, the marketplace allows TUG members to trade with each other when posting direct exchange ads.

Vacationpointexchange site is run by a TUG member and has a forum intended to facilitate weeks for points exchanges.

Well, there is a site dedicated exclusively to Marriott owners that supports direct exchanges with each other.

I'm curious if people have had much luck using www.ownerstrades.com. I signed up last night (after seeing the post yesterday), and I was disappointed that many of the posts seemed 3 or 4 years old. It left me regretting paying the $12 for full site access.

Have any of you used it, and actually gotten an exchange?

I haven't used it, but that really is disappointing.:(

One of the features that I really like about Redweek is that someone can search as a guest, and join if they want to contact an owner. I know that a few years ago there was an exchange component to Redweek, but I don't know what happened to it. Maybe there wasn't enough traffic.

note there is no cost or obligation to post your interval available for exchange on TUG.

matches are sent to you automatically...and you are welcome to do whatever you want with the week on down the road if you change your mind about exchanging.

there really is no reason for any TUG member to not post their interval up for direct exchange...who knows what you might get a free exchange for!

Thanks, Brian, I'll keep that in mind.

I Luv TUG!
So much great free info that I had to join to offer support. Best timeshare investment ever!

There are some nice exchanges offered here.

Why are some listed for free and some for $0.01? Just curious.

Maui is making it so difficult to rent a condo to someone else now even if it is not your business with all their tax reporting requirements and having permits, etc. Leave it to the Bureaucrats. The paperwork alone is going to cost them a fortune so what do they really gain?

A few years ago using the Tug marketplace we arranged a 3 way exchange between 3 BR units in Aruba, Harborside and St. John's. It was great- 3 owners reserved ideal weeks for one another a year in advance, all through email/phone and all on trust. Worked out perfect for everyone. I'd love to do that in the future.

We also had a very nice exchange through TUG Marketplace with fellow TUGgers from Ohio. We exchanged our 2BR Westin Princeville unit for their Marriott Ko'Olina at different times of the year. I think we both also felt a lot more confidence that each of us was dealing with honest people such that the contract we wrote was very simple and both parties were quite happy with the exchange.

love to read successful free exchanges between TUGGERS!

And it's funny, Brian- even thought we were still strangers, there was a sense of security between all of us, and we all had confidence. nothing was even in writing, except for each of us conversing with the respective party to make the reservations we wanted and then forwarding reservation confirmations for check-in, and closer in discussing best available room requests. I was the first to use and the last to give, based on each other's needs, but everyone was really comfortable and no one worried about anyone reneging. It was almost like a transaction between friends.
