I know with marriott if you stay in a marriott timeshare those nights count towards your nights stays for elite status. Is that the same with Starwood? If so do I just need to give my starwood number at check in?

Unlike Marriott, Starwood does not count timeshare nights for elite status.

Starwood just recently started counting free hotel stays using StarPoints towards elite status.

So if they started counting free nights why wouldn't timeshares count? I wonder if anyone has tried.

Do any spg points accrue for incidentals charged to your room (ie; internet) at a starwood timeshare property?

Yes, if you charge everything to your AMEX card. Triple points for guest charges when you check out! (I should say, double points if you are Preferred, triple if you are Gold)

They should if you used SPG (i.e hotel) points to book the unit. There are some restrictions on using SPG points to access a timeshare property (you can't use points that originated with a conversion from your unit).

Well, I checked out yesterday at WPORV and got 2 points per $ spent on incidentals on my spg account today. At Harborside in December, they refused to take my spg number. So I guess it depends on the resort you are staying at.

Harborside is not a Starwood property, per se. You can't book it on any Starwood website so even a full pay guest would not get Starpoints.

Nick, ... "At Harborside in December, they refused to take my spg number. So I guess it depends on the resort you are staying at."

Harborside is in the Starwood Vacation Ownership (SVO) resort group and it is also in the Starwood Vacation Network (SVN) plan for using StarOptions. However, Harborside is not a Starwood Preferred Guest (SPG) resort.

Stays and spending at Harborside do not earn Starpoints - other than 1 Starpoint per $1 charged on the Starwood Amex card. And, you cannot call SPG and make a reservation for Harborside using money or Starpoints (or a combination of both). Salty

Thanks Jerseygirl and Jarta. I didn't realize that.
