Do DC owners see resort inventory?

I read a while back that a DC owner saw a lot of inventory on a resort that was not available on II. Can DC owners actually see the number of weeks available? If so, can anyone see any studios/efficiencies in Ko Olina available for the week of 3/17/12?

The only thing that DC owners/members can see is inventory in the DC exchange company. They don't see anything different in II than a non enrolled or non trust points owner.

You should post this sightings request in the Sightings forum and someone will tell you if they see anything available. Seeing how it is in flexchange though, if you can't see it, they likely can't either.

Partial week or certain days of that week are available in Mountain view. The whole week is available in Ocean View.

Thanks! I have this theory that Marriott makes DC weeks available on II to fulfill trade requests if they don't get picked up by DC members. I'll give it a try.

This theory is probably correct, however it would only occur if it wasn't a broken week. Only whole weeks would be deposited in to II by Marriott. We also don't know at what point Marriott makes these deposits, though in the past we have noticed a number in flexchange for different resorts.

If you are patient and can check II often (and I mean very often) you should be successful with a trade. It takes a lot of luck and patients. No guarantees though.

I have had pretty good luck with II, but their trade rules drive me nuts. They are as non-customer friendly as you can get. Fortunately, I love using my home resort, so I don't have to deal with this very often.

Just wanted to follow up for those like me who try to peak behind the curtain and figure out what Marriott is doing. I posted a request on Saturday. It was less than 59 days, so I had to add an impossible 2013 date to make the system take it. I checked several times a day and there was no availability at Ko Olina. Monday night I got the confirmation certificate. Marriott found a unit somewhere pretty quickly.

Was this a DC waitlist or an II request? If it was an II request then II found the week not Marriott.

I traded a studio for a studio. It was II, but Marriott is a part owner of II. I have suspected for a long time that Marriott moves inventory around behind the scenes to meet requests, especially at Ko Olina.

I am fairly sure that Marriott is no longer a part owner of II, although I believe it was many years ago now.
I suspect though that Marriott does move inventory around to achieve its own priorities. If only we could really discover exactly what and how?!

If it was an II request then it is up to II and only II to get that request filled for you. Marriott didn't have anything to do with it and as the PP indicated, Marriott no longer has any ownership in II.

It seems that Marriott will make moves behind the scenes to fill DC requests. They can pull inventory from II for example if it helps them fill a request. But I don't think that II can do the same.
