Disposing of units at Marriott Fairway Villas in NJ

A family member came to me wanting to dispose of three 2BR weeks (two platinum, one gold) at Marriott Fairway at Galloway (Bonvoy program). Her children do not want them. She bought them retail (about $40K total), but has only used them to convert to hotel points. She is willing to take the loss and just get rid of them, but would prefer not to pay any more maintenance fees after 2025.

What is the best way to get rid of them? Is there a deedback program at Marriott?

There is only two seasons at Marriott Fairway Villas in NJ, Platinum mid April to Nov. and Gold. Nov to mid April. These are non lock off 2BRs. There is no ROFR.
She can offer them for free here on TUG and pay the closing costs thru LT Transfers.
The summer weeks late June thru Labor Day are great II traders.

You can edit the title to correct the name of the resort.

Is the gold week likely to get taken up (if you know)? If she would keep any (or if any other family member would take them), she'd likely keep only the platinum weeks.

Probably the easiest thing to do is contact MVC deed back/ exit services department and just give them back for free.

They could also have a look on redweek and see what similar units are selling for.
They might be able to list them on redweek, tug marketplace, eBay etc to sell for a small amount.
Or as Grayfal suggested offer them for free.

I suspect these are likely deed backs. You may find someone willing to take one for free, but they aren't weeks that are sought after for trading since they don't lock off. I don't doubt they trade well, but why would someone use them as a trader when they can buy a lock off unit somewhere and pay half the maintenance fees for each exchange.

It will be very difficult to give away the gold week.

You would need to exchange for Disney through II.

Disney chooses what units it deposits- mostly Saratoga Springs and Old Key West.
I’ve seen a few reports of Animal kingdom, don’t think I’ve ever seem anyone say they got Beach Club.
Trading power of a 2Br platinum MVC wouldn’t be the problem, it would be supply of what ends up in II.

Just say you have questions on deed back procedures- that’s why email is great, no details really needed.

A couple of years I just gave my gold week back to Marriott after I no longer found it useful and the MFs were getting out of hand.SinceI bought if resale off ebay for a dollar to give it away was a no brainer The process was relatively easy and straight foward.

Marriott hasn't traditionally charged anything to do a deed back. They take them back for free. There have been some recent reports where people trying to deed back some Sheraton Vistana Resort weeks have been asked to pay a $400 fee

Suggest that you allow the family member to pay and use the 2025 to try it out but keep it it under original owners name. They can do this indefinitely and get owner benefits. Then deedback or give away when done.

Yep, they took it back for free I do think they wanted you be current on Mainteannce fees which I was.

Great! Do you happen to know if they will take back one or two weeks and let you keep the other(s)? Just in case. She has never exchanged a week, and thinks it might be good to deed back the gold week and try to exchange a platinum week (or two) for a couple of years.

There is no limit to the weeks you give back, just to what she wants to relinquish
Or, what they will,take back.
Each unit is considered individually
