I'd appreciate suggestions of a nice family restaurant in WDW in a location with good view of the nightly fireworks. Great view, in fact, As it's a special birthday for a special person, and this is the her wish.

That can be tricky. First, it depends on when you are going. The fireworks happen at different times which varies by season, as early as 8 in the winter months, and as late as 11 or 12 during the summer. Table service restaurants won't be open much past 10, except at the resorts .... maybe. And then, Disney is notorious for changing park hours.
Then, only a few restaurants within Magic Kingdom will have any view of the fireworks at all. Cinderella's Royal Table, Crystal Palace, and maybe The Plaza. Ohana at the Polynesian can have a distant view, but only at a few tables. I think there may be one at The Contemporary that might have a view. In any case, you will need to know exactly when you are going and be ready to get reservations the day they become available, 180 days ahead of time.
Another alternative would be to book the Wishes dessert party, which takes place for an hour or so before the fireworks show, and provides a good viewing location.
California Grill Observation Deck: Guests who are dining at California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort during the same time as Wishes have a lovely view of the fireworks from the restaurant. What’s so amazing is how closely you feel like you’re experiencing the fireworks, even though you’re pretty far away (they even pipe in the music). And even if you fail to secure a reservation for around the time of Wishes, fear not: if you dine earlier in the evening at California Grill, you can still go back up to the observation deck and watch the fireworks from there.
Yep. California Grill is the only real option. If you are (traveling with) a DVC Member, you can also view them from the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower, but that's drinks, not dinner.

Grandview Las Vegas and Discovery Beach Resort - Both in RCI Points
Woodstone and Summit at Massanutten - Both in RCI weeks used as Wyndham PICs
If you are going to the nightly display at Epcot, that is the one I definitely recommend using a fast pass pick to get in the better viewing area. They have special event areas (with food and drink) that you can buy advance tickets for and those are probably the better viewing areas also.
There is a Mexican Restaurant in Epcot that has awesome indoor fireworks view from some of the tables but you must let them know your preference ahead of time. It's located in Mexico across from the indoor boat ride.

The problem with R&C is that half of the seats are inside, and therefore can't see anything. So, you have to eat outside (maybe nice, maybe not) and then people rush up to the rail for the show. At CA Grill, the situation is a lot simpler.
Try Narcoossee at the Grand Floridian I like it much better than the California grill, at least read up on it. You can view the MK Fireworks from their waterfront verandah.
