Hello,

We are taking the 3 day cruise. Was on the 4 day and remember going by the beach at Atlantis. I don't remember any "wow" factor. There are 8 of us(range in age from 8 to 50) Was wondering about going to Blue Lagoon Island or Cable Beach? Are they safe? Clean? Can we get there on our own? Any advice welcomed. Thank you

If you’re just going to the “beach” then any of them are fine. They have built up the area around downtown Nassau with a beach bar and a lot of shopping. If you’re going to the water park then you would play the Atlantis fee to use the water slides. That’s why people go to Atlantis from the cruises. All beaches in Bahamas are public up to the high water line so you wouldn’t need to pay to use the beach.

We have gone to cable beach. Used to pay fee for use of Westin facilities. I think it might be Melia now.

Or simply stay on the ship to take advantage of the offerings since it’s a short cruise.

We did Atlantis too on our 4 day Disney Cruise. When we stop at Nassau again this year, we’re staying onboard.;)

Personally, we never get off the ship in Nassau. We loved to be on the ship on port day. You have the whole ship to yourself except for some other passengers and cruise members.

We loved Disney private island much better than Nassau. IMHO.

You are paying the premium price for Disney, so stay aboard and enjoy the Disney experience.
Lay in the sun if that's your thing- you won't have to compete for a lounge. Eat great food instead of burger fare. If you must, there's a souvenir market on the dock. That oughtta be enough crowd for anyone.

Most of the souvenirs in Nassau are now made in China. Look behind some concession stands and you will see boxes from China. LOL. IMO.

We get off the ship at Nassau for lunch at the Bahamian Cookin' restaurant and bar. By our second or third day on the ship we are desperate for spice.

Depending on our mood we also sometimes walk to the Chocolate Factory and/or Nassau Public Library & Museum...but both are farther away from the port (and in opposite directions).

There is a cool pirate museum in Nassau and if you like Greek food, Athena cafe is some of the best Greek I’ve had. Atlantis water park is fun but very very expensive. It may be cheaper to book one night at the comfort suites for 4 people and the room key gets you a wrist band ;)

We don't get off the ship in Nassau on the short cruises. So much money for such a short time.....we hang back and enjoy the ship.

I thought the Atlantis beach was fantastic. However, it is a $59 PP fee that includes beach loungers and towels. You also get access to Atlantis aquariums while you make the walk to the beach, and it is a long walk from the main entrance!

If conditions are right, I would do the Atlantis beach again, but all the walking takes away the joy at the end.

Check out https://www.resortforaday.com for other alternatives in Nassau, even all inclusive options. I have used them in the past.
