Discovery Conversion - Recind?

I’m a Wyndham Select owner (200,000 points + 300,000 bonus), so temporary Silver VIP. My wife also has a Discovery package. During a recent stay on my points, she was offered to convert to owner after which we would combine accounts for a total of 400k points and like 850k total bonus points for $29k. We did it. Was originally intending to get just 100,000 add’l points on my ownership to get to VIP status and to be right-sized for us with points. Trying to figure out if I should recind and hope they offer to convert her discovery again in the future or just buy the add’l 100k points in the future when I’m ready. I can’t stand the “this price is only good today by State law” line. Any suggestions?

I also forgot to mention that the reason we were convinced to go with 200,000 instead of 105,000 was because we were told that we could sell the bonus points back to Wyndham for their use at $400 per 10,000 points which would easily cover the difference in cost. Any experience with this?

$400 per 10,000 points

NOPE. At best, you heard wrong. At worst, you were lied to.

Other than ExtraHolidays, which won’t generate anywhere near that (many postings herein),
the only programs for converting extra ownership points are:

$.0021 per point ———- https://clubwyndham.wyndhamdestinat...converting-points-to-maintenance-dollars.html

400 WR points per 1000 ownership points ——-https://clubwyndham.wyndhamdestinat...rces/wyndham-rewards-conversions-program.html

These both differ by orders of magnitude from what you were told.
And given that you can buy points *from* Wyndham (called ‘renting’)
at $12 per 1,000 points, what would you conclude?

OK I was lied to, then. I hate being lied to. The sales person also told me that my temporary VIP status was not the same as a regular VIP owner. She said that the VIPs who actually purchased the points to get to that level get more preference than I would. When I called Wyndham they said that was not true. Who is correct? Sales person or Wyndham directly?

Maybe call corporate and see how much you could get the 100,000 for before you decide. I think you may have a problem using all of the bonus points if you think your ideal amount is around 300,000 points per year.

I have a call into them. The only reason I was going with all those bonus points was to sell them but it doesn’t sound like it’s worth it.
