Does anyone know the difference between these two resorts? It seems all the reviews point you to stay at Resort on Cocoa Beach, but it is Discovery Beach Resort that is listed as a Gold Crown Resort with II. We are planning on going in November, with a 2 and 4 year old and Grandma and Grandpa in a 2 bedroom. Resort on Cocoa Beach has not come up for us yet with an exchange, so I am thinking about requesting Discovery Beach Resort, but am unsure if it is as great a resort. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Also, do either of these resorts ever come up as a getaway???
Thank you for your help.

Discovery Beach

I belileve Discovery Beach is older than Resort on Cocoa Beach. I think they are owned/managed by the same company. I have not stayed at Discovery Beach, but love Resort on Cocoa Beach.

Maybe someone who has stayed at Discovery Beach can tell you about it.

We stayed, loved and bought

We traded in and really liked the resort. We then purchased a resale. Yes, it is older but what a great location. They have one of the best activity calendars in the Space Coast and a decent restaurant on site.

We liked the area so well, we bought a home down the beach two years ago and now I use the gym on a regular basis. I have seen sales on ebay recently for considerably less than we paid (around $1200).

Cocoa Beach Resort is a little more upscale. As a local I do not like the beach area there as well as Discovery, but that is just me. I like walking to the pier (or jogging). Also I like being closer to Ron Jons and the restaurants.

Nice Place

We stayed at Discovery Beach Resort in 2004. Totally enjoyed the place. I loved watching the Cruise ships coming and going, one night about 3am I got up to get a drink and looked out and a cruise ship moored just off of the Resorts Beach area. All the lights were on, it looked like a major party was going on, it illuminated the entire area for a long distance. It was really cool.

I believe all units are Oceanfront, mostly covered parking, great tennis & Basketball courts. Close to the pier, easy walk. My wife and I would walk down in the late evening and get desert and coffee.

Its not a super fancy place compared to some places but overall it was one of those pleasant surprises that we have stayed.

I am sure the Resort at Cocoa Beach is a nice place but my trader never pulls the place, and I don't think that the units there are all OF.

We are again staying at Discovery Beach this year during the first week in July.

Joel,

How is the beach there?

It's kind of a interesting beach layout. Across the top of the beach its wide like maybe 60-80 feet, mostly coarse type sand. Then it has sort of a steep down slope to the water, about maybe 30 - 50 ft. Lots of shells that we never found at other beaches we have been to. I may have some pics if you want me to email them to you.

Discovery Beach

Hi - we stayed at Cocoa Beach Resort - originally we were as far away from the ocean as is physically possible - in a 2 bedroom! We had a problem on the second night with the room and they upgraded us to ocean front. About one third or less of their rooms are ocean front so beware....

Glad to hear the positive input for Discovery. We'll be there at the end of July. I can't wait.

Joel-how far would you say it is from the pier?

Thanks for all the info - I think I will also try to get into Discovery Beach Resort. It sounds like a great place to go! Anyone with pictures?
