I have a new one to coincide with the Hotel Dirty Glasses thread. We just came back from Sheraton Broadway to celebrate New Years. Upon stripping the bed yesterday I found not one but three dirty soxs-none of them were ours. This means that the bed was not stripped by the maids for who knows how long. It totally grossed me out. I have never had this happen before.

Ewwwwww......

Sheraton Broadway Plantation - the TS?

Did you report it? What happened?

Stuff like this makes one never want to spend a night in a hotel room again. There is no excuse for not stripping a bed and putting on fresh linens for each new guest.

At least with a timeshare that has a washer/dryer you have the option to wash the sheets that are on your bed yourself. But who really wants to do that when you pay what they charge for MF's?

I have a friend that takes her own sheets and blankets with her no matter where she stays.

OH MY GOODNESS! That is absolutely disgusting. I have always trusted that the nice hotels and timeshares actually change the sheets.

I have always wondered about the blankets, though, because I don't really see that many of the housekeeping carts with blankets. The thought of using a blanket that many people have used......GROSS!

The comforters are changed maybe once a season.

The comforter goes into a chair in the corner, every place we stay.

Rick's step-mom always makes her bed at the timeshares in Hawaii. I keep telling her that the bedspreads shouldn't touch the sheets anymore than necessary.

I'm hating this story...disappointing and gross, not to mention unsanitary. How did the hotel respond to this?

The acting front desk manager gave us 5000 Starwood points. I probably should have held out for more but we were headed to the airport. Her face dropped when we told her what we found and we put the evidence in a baggie and handed it to her. I am glad I found this at the end of the trip not when we checked in. I am still grossed out.

Although we had a great time and the staff was very pleasant we noticed a few places at the resort that needed much attention. The lazy river pool had pool scum all over the concrete. Sort of if you had a robot pool cleaner that missed cleaning the bottom and there was yellow algae left in many many places. Not something I would swim in. The water was crystal clear.

The handle to turn the kitchen blinds open or closed was covered in grime so much so that I cleaned it myself. I found this out on our first day.

I am not one to complain or be nit picky but there was a definite lack of maintenance in certain areas. I did not bring this to the attention of the front desk.

It was our first time at Broadway and it was a nice resort. Location is excellent and the staff was very helpful but cleaning needs to be improved.

There was a Starwood owner complaining at the front desk when we checked in about things not being taken care of.

I am not a Starwood owner but I am a member of Starwood Hotel rewards. For those SVO owners who are I would bring this to the attention of the HOA.

Now we know where all the missing socks go! Sort of like those garden gnomes that also take vacations.

Seriously, this is icky. Seriously icky.

Review posted

I have just submitted a review that I am sure will be posted soon. It has both positive and negative comments and info about the area.

I am still totally grossed out and want to strip the bed when I check in to resorts going forward.

At the beginning of our timeshare days my mother found a very soiled pair of men's underwear in the drawer. I can't remember what we did about it then. I think we wrote something in the feedback for the resort.....fast forward 9 years later and I would definitely verbally complaining to management. It's amazing how you change when you get older and better at this timeshare game.

Okay, now we need a vomiting smiley...

If the socks were in between the sheets and the blanket we can hope that the socks were entangled in the blankets before putting back on the bed but if they were actually in between the sheets ewwww:(

Better than Socks

A friend of mine checked into a major hotel in NYC. When he got up to the room, with the bellman in tow, he found a pair of women's panties on the floor next to the bed  and the phone was ringing. He picked up the phone and it was message for "Julie." Need I say more.

He requested and got another room.

Cheers,

Paul

I've seen this silk "sleeping bag" things you can buy to keep from sleeping in hotel sheets. I haven't done it, but things like that make it seem appealing. I think they might be in Traveler Smith.

One more reason you should always strip the beds when you leave the timeshare. Much easier for the maid to put clean sheets on that reuse the old ones.

That is totally gross. I try not to think about the comforter etc.

In the Marriott t/s with the duvet - do they clean them each time?
