Are there any restrictions on using two or three of these certificates at the same time (for a dining party of 4 or 6 people)? Also, has anyone found these to be a good value?

Not sure about using two or three, but you should be able to call the restaurant and ask. We found ours to be a great value. We both had lobster at the Sea Grill in Palm Desert. The total bill with tip for the two of us was about $200.00 and it was all free.

Where to use the cards

We wanted to use a gift Certificate for two dinners at Tuscany but the terms say Tuscany is not included. Are there any nice restaurants in Orlando that I can use the gift cards? How about in NJ? Hilton Head??

I am still interested in the answer to this

Bump

I am interested in finding out where I can use these certificates. Can I use them in Orlando at the MGV, the Surf Watch in Hilton Head, in fact any Marriott in HH? Can I use them at the Marriott Marquis in NYC or the Grande Chateau in Vegas? How about the Fairway Villas in NJ? These are all places I am going in the next few months and if I can use these certificates I will gladly buy some.

Most of the MVCI resorts do not have restaurants to use the 2 for 1 at. In Hilton Head you can use them at the hotel there and many of the timeshare properties have a hotel nearby. The best thing to do is go the hotel website and look up the restaurants that are on site and call them to see if they are good there. Be warned though, that many of the people at the restaurants have no idea about these certificates and whether they can be used. I have used them at Park City, Myrtle Beach, Aruba, and Honolulu Marriotts. At Aruba and Park City there was no issure. At Myrtle Beach they had no clue and had to investigate. At Honolulu I was told it was good but only for the face value which is what it defaults to if not used within 2 years. After more discussion they finally understood. I proceeded to enjoy a $200 meal with it. You get apetizer, salad, entre, desert, and all of the non-alcoholic bevarages that you can consume and the tip is also included.

I think you will find that they are not accepted at many of the upscale restaurants, at say JWs, or any that are independent of Marriott but on the site but they are still a great value and you have nothing to lose since they will always be worth what you paid for it if not used within the 2 year period.

Marylyn -

Click on "Terms & Conditions" at the bottom of 1sland’s link in post #9 and you’ll see a list of restaurants where the certificates are not valid, including The View Restaurant in NYC’s Marriott Marquis.

And I agree with floyddl. Most Marriott timeshares do not have restaurants, something that’s a necessity if you want to use one of these certificates there!

There are two restaurants at the Fairway Villas, the Aruba properties have some at the hotel and the Nick Faldo at the Marriott Grande Vista (not that I would use them there). I am sorely tempted to buy them for the Fairways since they have a lovely restaurant there. I didn't read anything about the Chateau so I guess they are good there.

Did anyone actually call before going to a restaurant to check and see if they are accepted??

Thanks for all your advice.

Your plan might not work, Marylyn....

First, Grand Chateau doesn't have an on-site restaurant. More importantly, it appears that you missed one of the key provisions from the T&C:
They cannot be used at .... Marriott Vacation Club International.
However, they can be used at restaurants in adjacent hotels, where there are such hotels, except for those restaurants specifically excluded in the T&C.

Thanks DaveM, It's too bad about the Chateau. I was sure such an upscale place would have a restaurant. Isn't there a Marriott hotel in Vegas? That could work. I was thinking along the lines of the Fairways where there are two restaurants in the old Seaview Country Club. I was upset that all the good Marriotts in Orlando were excluded as well as the Marriott Marquis. We use the Marquis as a meeting place when we meet folks for B'way shows.

There is a J W Marriott in Las Vegas. It is off the strip, in Summerlin,
a beautiful place and location, but off the strip.

http://marriott.com/property/abouthotel/restaurants/lasjw

don't know much about the restaurants, give them a call and let us all know if they accept the dinner for 2 coupon.

philbob

edit - It is ajoining the Rampart Casino ( I believe it was originally named Marriott at Summerlin). Across the street from the Suncoast Casino and very close to the upscale Red Rock Casino.

Just an FYI for anyone interested in buying a dinner for 2 cert. They are shipped via a "signature required" service. So if like me, noone is home in the middle of the day, may sure you ship them to somewhere it can be signed for.

I have a very interesting story with regard to the use of the certificates. Our family of four spends every Christmas/ New Years in Aruba. We know that it is important to make reservations in advance for the popular restaurants. So this year I purchased two certificates for our family and called the Tuscany restaurant at the Marriott to see if they accept the certificates on New Years eve because some restaurants have a special New Years eve menu. The woman answering the phone put me on hold and when she came back she said all was fine, they will accept the certificates and gave me an 8 PM reservation. On 12/31 I tried confirming with the restaurant but could not get through. So we showed up at 8 for our resrvation -- all dressed up I might add. The hostess informed me that my name was not on the reservation sheet and that in fact they only have 2 seatings on New Years eve -- one at 6 PM where the menu is the regular menu and the certificates are taken. However, the 9 PM seating is a special menu, the cost is $125 pp not including tip and the certificates are not accepted. I told her that was unfair since I had called two months ago and specifically discussed the New Years eve situation. She just said sorry and there was nothing she could do. I went to the concierge to see if there was somewhere else we could go and she told me there was only one other place she could book as at, but my kids were not interested in that place -- Le Petite Cafe, which my wife actually enjoys. I decided to go to the front desk and explain my situation to the manager to see if there was anything he could do for us. He told me to wait and he would see if he could help. Five minutes later he returned and told me to return to the restaurant at 9 PM and speak to Sonia the manager and that they would accept our reservation and allow us to use the certificates with all the that they cover -- free soft drinks and tax and tip included. I ran back to my room and found the sheet of paper where I had written down all my reservations including the person that I had spoken with in October. When we returned to the restaurant I told the woman who had originally turned us away the name of the person who had given us the 8 PM resrvation. She started to laugh and said she completely understood and believed that we had in fact been given this information because the woman I had named was a young confused Dutch girl who was interning at the restaurant at that time. Sonia also raised her eyebrows when I mentioned the girl's name and explained to her what had happened. In the end we enjoyed perhaps the best meal we had ever eaten anywhere. A lobster tail appetizer, a very nice salad, oxtail soup, a filet mignon that was the tastiest softest piece of steak ever and a wonderful array of deserts as well as champagne and party favors. Although my family is not so into food that we would spend $500 plus tax for a meal, I think we might have to return here next year for the New Years eve meal. I will use my certificates a different night.

Are there restaurants at the Kauai Beach Club and on Maui that the certificates can be used? I did see the exclusion of Ko Olina.

See post #13, which contains a quote from the T&C as quoted in post #10. As stated, the certificates are not valid at Marriott timeshare resorts. That would include KBC and MOC. However, they are apparently valid at all Marriott hotels, except as noted in the T&C in post #10.

Yes, but isn't KBC also a Marriott hotel? Does anyone know if the restaurants are part of the Vac. Club or part of the hotel.

KBC is adjacent to the Kauai Marriott Resort and Beach Club (the hotel), which has most of the restaurants. Thus, the certificates would be valid there.
