Difference between generations

Correction: today's generation doesn't go into the office so there is no need to call in sick.

The smart ones have an Artificial Intelligence setup on their computer
Looks like they are on screen for the morning Zoom call with their team
the voice and interactions during the meeting are all AI generated
Since everybody is still operating at a diminished capacity
Nobody really notices
Reminds me of calling the Timeshare help desk first thing in the morning

I can assure you that some in the older generations don't go into an office now either.

Could also be a difference in salary (and generations)
If I was still in the work force and had a choice I'd WFH

"Stanford University economist and remote work expert Nick Bloom shows that post pandemic, the number of days people are allowed to work from home correlates to their income. Work-from-home days have fallen by 16 percent for workers earning between $10,000 and $100,000 a year — but only by 5 percent for those making $200,000 or more"

The conversion to open-office environments definitely made it much less attractive to go to work. It also greatly reduced productivity due to all of the distractions. After our company converted to it, I actually would use a sick day to work from home on important reports so I could complete them without distractions or interruptions.

I would have worked a few more years if the WFH option was available. Unfortunately, I retired just before COVID and our new management liked to 'control' their workers.
