So we went to GM at NV last February. I waited too long to pay the resort fee the required two weeks before arrival so when I called they told me I would just have to pay at check in. They still set us up with the shuttle from the airport (I'm guessing because they don't want the other timeshare sharks to get you first). When we got to the resort instead of charging us the $620 as stated on RCI the clerk only charged us the old resort fee of $75 per person so we came out way cheaper. Im wondering if this would be a strategy to try again. Has anyone else not paid the resort fee prior to arrival and if so what happened at check in?

When I checked in last week using a II getaway week GB charged a resort fee of $252 for our studio/hotel room. I did not see a request to pay the resort fees in advance through II however.

Ok, I think that is the current amount for a studio. I guess I just got lucky last time.

$75 is the resort fee going through SFX; a studio/hotel unit has a $252 resort fee for NV through RCI or II.

How far in advance was the confirmation? I know it has been a while since Vidanta eliminated the $75 fee with II, but they also bulk bank a long way in advance. Is it possible that you confirmed the exchange before the big resort fee increase?

I made my reservation through RCI right after they changed it to the resort fee by room size. We booked a 2 bedroom so it should have been $620. But I guess the person checking us in just didn’t know. I think in the future I may try SFX or try to grab a last call from RCI.

Doesn't a Last Call have the same resort fees?

The resort fees are the same for extra vacations through RCI; nothing showed up for Vidanta NV for last calls so I couldn't check that. I would guess that it's the same, too, though.
