Hey Gang,

Check out this new job listing at SVO.

Now I could ask the obvious questions like "isn't there already a wait-list in place that allows Vacation Ownership Services to actively manage owner expectations in a positive manner?" but I'll hold off on the jokes for now. This could be a step in the right direction.

Very interesting.

I don't know but maybe they are seeking someone with a "demonstrated aggressive, professional business style" to deal specifically with your room assignments.

You're welcome!

Here is some more encouraging information.

The fact that SVO is at least seeking people to do these jobs suggests that it has finally had a Helen Keller "WAA-TER" type realization that if it promises things to us owners like waiting lists, upgrades on availability, and on-line reservation systems, it needs to follow through with those promises.

Actually looking for people who know what they are doing is an excellent first step. Way to go SVO!

Thanks TUG for providing this communication vehicle. Keeping the analogy going, we should all consider ourselves SVO's "miracle workers." Yes, being aggressive is sometimes required to work miracles.

So again, you're welcome.

Oops. Perhaps I spoke too soon. It appears that both job listings (one for someone to "develop" a scheduling system that balances the needs of SVO’s “internal” and “external” customers and one for a computer person to basically implement it have been pulled by SVO.

Let's hope SVO found someone for both jobs and isn't relying of its traditional head-in-the-sand approach to problem solving.

Ut Oh. SVO just posted this job today.

What is their thinking here?

SVO Management Dolt 1: Hmm, we need to increase our sales with existing owners, but our inventory management systems suck and we've been getting lots of complaints from owners about that. In response, earlier this month we posted job listings looking for people that know what their doing in this area, because lord knows we certainly have no clue. But we were all embarrassed by that pesky TUG posting alerting owners to this fact, so we pulled those job listings.

Oh yeah, we also recently burned some major bridges with our owners by arbitrarily and without notice cancelling benefits we promised these owners in order to induce them into making additional purchases from us in the past. . . . and, we sort of maybe promised them that the newest villas that they purchased sight unseen several years ago would have certain features that we sort of forgot to tell them we decided to delete as a cost saving measure. Accordingly, these owners were very dissapointed that these promised features were missing when they first showed up to use their new villas.

So, what can we do now?

SVO Management Dolt 2: I know! Let's hire someone whose sole job is to induce existing owners to make additional developer purchases. That way when they fail because of our past mismanagement, we can blame HER for being ineffective, and we can fire HER to show we are doing something to solve this problem.

SVO Management Dolt 1: Sounds good to me, but what should we call this new job? I don’t think “scape goat” will attract many applicants.

SVO Management Dolt 2: How about “Owner Referral Staff?”

SVO Management Dolt 1: Perfect! As a reward, go ahead and pull a new word out of the random management title generator hat. Let's hope that you finally get that "senior" you've been hoping for.

One step forward, two steps back.
