Did I request early enough?

Using my 2 bedroom Harbour Point week 30, I requested 2 bd at both Ko'Olina and the new buildings at Maui Ocean Club. I've also put in a request for both Westin properties on Maui as well as MOC using a 2 bd Hilton Affiliate on Marco Island (Eagle's Nest). My request is for May-June or mid August-September. Knowing how difficult a 2 bd exchange at the Maui properties wiil be, any thoughts on whether I requested early enough? Also, getting 2 consecutive weeks should be a real challenge. Any TUGGERS have any advice on how to maximize my chances? Thanks for any thoughts you might have to help.

Are you requesting for 2011?
If so, you obviously deposited before May, since your request has May included.

Either way, you will probably be successful for late August or September, as those are low season just about everywhere.

Thanks, Terry. My dates are for 2012. Hopefully I'll get confirmed into something far enough in advance to use FF miles.

You will most likely match up with something, since the dates you are seeking are all bordering, but not in, prime season and you are requesting so for out. I'll bet May matches up first.

Terry, I was actually confirmed into a 2 bd Ko'Olina for September 4-11. Unfortunately, it was for 2011. I must have made a mistake with my dates. I called and cancelled as soon as I got the email and was able to have the request modified since it was within the 24 hour period. I think it's going to be a lot more difficult to get into Maui in a 2 bedroom unit. I see you own at MLE (I do too) and MBP. Using the FL Club, I reserved a 2 bd MBP in March and locked off. Do you think I'd have better luck with the 1 bd trying for Maui and possibly picking up a lockoff last minute? I could do this in additon to my Harbour Point 2 bd week 30.

I think, a Maui two bedroom might be difficult at the Marriott property. Are you trying for the older section or the newer section? The older section 2 bedrooms do not have full kitchens. At Westin it might be difficult to get the summer months like August because Westin controls what is being deposited. It doesn't matter what the owner deposits it matters what Westin makes available. They save the prime summer months for owners and other Starwood owners. So, that could be iffy. But the other months are not prime time so, I think you will get a match.

Ko'Olina will be very easy to trade. I've traded to Ko'Olina twice during Thanksgiving week. Ko'Olina is a lot bigger and has more units available for trade.

Yes, I believe Maui can be pieced together easier than getting an entire 2BR. Of course it will cost a little more. I have my MBP reserved for March as well, but i can easily rent it for $2000 or more, so I have yet to trade try trading it.

I did trade a MLE for a 2BR at Ko'Olina a couple of years ago, but the Marriott unsold inventory is now part of the trust, which could make that trade a little more difficult. The trade came in almost 11 months out.

Be persistent and open, and it will happen. You might add Ka'anapali Beach Club to your Maui requests as well.

Glad to see someone using the Florida Club. What March dates did you get at MBP inside the 6 month window.

Ciscogizmo1, thanks for your response. I am requesting the new section of Marriott Maui.....I am soooo spoiled (just found out this is the top rated Hawaii property on TUG). My Marriott timeshares have always gotten me into such beautiful properties. I think Ko'Olina will come through first also. The sooner that happens the sooner I can adjust my Maui requests to either the week before or after. Terry, using the FL Club, I was able to get a week 9 (Mar 4-11) at MBP. I own an EOY platinum plus fixed week at MLE and was able to get a good week at MBP two years ago also. I think FL Club is great because I can take a dedicated 2 bd and turn it into a lockoff, giving me two weeks of vacation. It's been great! This year I had thought about trying to rent at least the one bd but I wasn't courageous enough to take that step. Then we decided to try to go to Hawaii for two weeks. At least the weeks I requested are lower demand weeks. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can pull this whole thing off.....2 weeks in Hawaii at top properties using my timeshares and FF miles. I can only try!
