We are Legacy DRI. From reading everything I could once Hilton started introducing MAX I knew it would be a horrible deal because we would lose all or almost all Legacy Platinum Benefits we have. You are signing a new Contract with HVC that wipes out your Legacy DRI Contract.

Thank you everyone! Mailed the rescind letter today! Now on the hunt for kingsland resale. Appreciate the feedback and showing me our deal wasn't really a deal after all!
Wonderful. Now you can relax and take your time researching. I would suggest that you learn about HGVC TS system before making a resale purchase. You want to make sure that the system will work for you and your system. There also might be a better TS system for your family.

So I recently bought a resale at HGVC Parc Soleil and when I logged into my HGVC account and saw the points had been added, all of a sudden I have HGVMax. I assume this must have been connected to the resale somehow, although it is also an HGVC property. Not sure what this means. Any advice on impact?

Please rescind HGVC is a great system and you can buy resale with every year use for a lot less. You can then add MAX, I was offered it 3x for 7k turned down every time. Buy where you want to go, I purchased HHV on Oahu for every year use 9200 point, 5k. Also remember HI maintenance fees are higher than most mainland resorts.

To my dismay, I find that my Club ownership has been transferred to HGVMax Club (without my permission and without any notice to me), and my former Gold membership benefits in the Club have been stripped by HGV. Will be posting in detail about this soon.

The same thing is happening on the HGVC side with people purchasing resale and getting slammed into Max. It's a cluster cluck at HGV IT.

Now they can cite great Max numbers at their investor conference calls.

Fiancé and I caved in on our vacation.

3 days in and coming up on our 5 day cancel period and wondering if we should cancel?

I do feel like ultimately we got a pretty good discount for paying retail price (I found out about re sale after) but the MAX program seems like a plus for us
What we got talked into:
1 bedroom, kings land Hawaii
19,000 purchase price
7,680 every other year points
16,000 bonus points
1,700 maintenance fees / eoy

We have 2 kids that are small, and in a couple years think we would need a 2 bed but retail was double the price
I see you made up your mind! I lost it when I read - EOY points - what a sham!

I am HGVC Elite.
Depending on your Legacy Elite level, you lose some benefits and gain others. What HGVMax tier level are you now?

How do you tell?
open the app and go to the membership card, it will tell you your level or go to the website and your profile account. The HGVC home page tells me that I am Elite Premier but I am not sure if Max folks have the same thing on their homepage or not.

I'm curious about the Legacy program. We have a deeded property for about 20 years now and have never switched to Max or anything else. Does that make us Legacy?

IMHO, a basic principle of timeshare is to decide where you want to go, then find a resale opportunity where you can reserve directly at those locations, in the seasons that you want. It strikes me that this doesn't do that for you.

And that is without even considering that you could get what you are actually thinking you are buying for a fraction of the cost.
If you've seen my posts, you know im constantly talking about how I dont understand TSs....

BUT THIS to me is the most SENSE anyone has made. Why would anyone purchase something today assuming that they can probably do something with these items in the future, and you are not sure?

If i like going to Myrtle Beach in Mid October, Im going to buy Myrtle Beach in mid October.... I wont buy... Miami Beach in May and assume that that can translate into Japan in December..... Or even Buying Orlando to trade for Las Vegas! I wont assume that what im buying is of any importance to someone else, UNLESS you are literally buying JUST to rent to others and make income, kinda like buying a second home only to use as a rental property.

I am not saying this to be rude or to "Diss" the OP, im sorry if this comes off brash.

Certainly one viewpoint. However, I don't share it. We own in Vegas because the buy-in and MFs are relatively low. We don't go there often (and never go anywhere for our "season"). We use these points elsewhere, mostly Hawaii. We have never had a problem, and I don't expect that we will.

So, yes, one can certainly "buy where one wants to stay." But it is very possible to do otherwise with HGVC.

Cheers.

I think a lot depends on when and where someone expects to want to stay. If you want/need to stay at one of the resorts during it's peak season, there is value in paying a bit more to purchase there for the advanced reservation window (or automatically assigned fixed week). If you have some flexibility or tend to travel in the Gold/Silver seasons, I would be more focused on the MF/point ratio. Not only are these weeks much easier to get using the HGVC system points, in some cases it may make no financial sense to own a Silver or Gold week.

Exactly. Its not a one-size-fits-all. The more the time limitations and the desire to stay "only there," the more it can make sense to buy there. Since we've always been flexible (no kids) and now, retired, even more so, there is no reason not to buy at cheaper locations and stay where we want.

Cheers.

At the same time, you won't get the best purchase price and lowest $/MFs. Its a game. Enjoy it.

There is a good enough aspect to this and getting a week where you might actually want to go can be a fun game to play.

Please read, dream of vacations and enjoy timeshares!

Thank you. Does that give us extra privileges I am not aware of?
If you had/have elite status, which are generally better than the Max tiers, you get to keep those. Otherwise you get to use the system like you always have been.

We own at HGVC Tuscany for a platinum week, 3 bedroom. I just opened my maintenance fee bill for 2025 and it has gone up to $2,380 :(. I wish I had asked about an increase cap when I bought. I can't even rent it out at this price!

I would fall into this category. I dont have children and im not married. I might travel with another single friend, and I personally will go wherever has a decent price and im not spending $3000 to travel the world.... i went to Honduras for 5 days and the entire trip, Flights, Stay and everything was about $700-800 in Indura Resort in Tela.

That is the only experience I have with traveling abroad but now im addicted to the cheapest deals in the best places so im hanging on to every word you guys tell me. I want to be a travel pro!

You'll also want to look at Flyertalk.com. There you can learn quite a bit about travel hacking.
