Dexter my favorite serial killer is appearing on CBS starting February 17 at 10 PM. Black humor like the Sopranos, a monster you love to love. Don't miss it.

Having watched both seasons on Showtime, it's hard to believe there will be an hour (42-43 minutes) left per episode after they cut out the language, nudity and gore for watered-down network television.

In my opinion, anyone seriously interested in seeing it should find it on DVD. The show is fantastic in its original format.

Got Six Feet Under from Netflics. LOVE IT!!!

The actor that plays Dexter is a closeted gay man in this black comedy. GOOD GOOD GOOD! Anyone have any other recommendations?

Local newspaper rates it highly

I loved the Sopranos. Finally convinced my DH to try it again (he only watched the first episode and could not get past the violence)when we were on holidays and he was recovering from a broken hip (captive audience:) I'm an English teacher and love well crafted stories. Well I got him hooked and we were so sad when the series ended. Today our local paper raved about it and we are getting a bowl of popcorn ready tonight for the first episode. :cheer:

I can't imagine this playing on "regular" TV and retaining much of it's character. My DW and I started watching this on our cable on-demand station and plowed through season 1 and 2 - now we can't wait for season 3 which I just found out isn't due out until SEPTEMBER

Rather than watching the chopped-up network version, I have the DVDs on my list at Netflix. I am having some surgery next month and this will be just what the doctor ordered to pass the time during the early days of recovery!!

I do love the show. I really was deeply saddened realized that the CBS version wasn't new episodes... September is a LONG time away.

I caught a few episodes of "Extra's" on Showtime - that's a good show as well.

Yes "Extras" was good - did you catch the finale? Really good! I love Ricky Gervais!

I also love "Entourage" on HBO - no new episodes until JUNE!!! :(

I only saw a scattered few on the on demand before it was gone. I have them on my blockbuster online list...
Can't wait

Dexter, SFU . . . etc.

We just completed watching the entire season two this weekend . . . a Dexter Marathon via DVD!! We have gotten where we simply cannot wait (or stand to wait) for those types of shows from week to week. SFU and 24 are two others that we watched entire seasons over the course of a long weekend marathon.

We did flip over to CBS last night to catch the last 20 minutes or so of Dexter. It seemed to us that they took two or three episodes and consolidated and sanitized for network TV to make last night's show. Doing that, they could show two full seasons almost like a miniseries . . . ending just in time for the fall ramp up of season three.

Michael C. Hall is an outstanding actor and did a great job in SFU too. I recall seeing him in a Ben Affleck movie a couple of years ago too . . . the scifi flick Paycheck I think it was. Small part, but he was good.

Speaking of SFU, many of those characters have gone on to other things. The old fart who played crazy George was very good as Prince Phillip in The Queen. He was also good in one of the Will Smith scifi movies (I Robot I think it was).

The actor who played brother Nate Fischer was in a series this past year, about love, greed and money, but I can't remember the name. (Heck, maybe that was the name of the movie??) He played a lawyer trying to figure out why his father died and the role this rich (and very dysfunctional) family played in it.

Yes Von --the Nate character from SFU was in Dirty Sexy Money; I followed it because of enjoying him from SFU.
Started with Dexter also because of the SFU connection. Really enjoyed the first two seasons.
And Rachel Griffiths, Brenda, is in Brothers and Sisters on Sunday nights, opposite Dexter.
The SFU alumni are not doing too badly .

Please can you recomend more in this Genre?

There must be more black comedy's TV series out there. For us repressed goody two shoes types it is so great to see characters do things we would only dream about. Mocking the funeral industry satisfys some of my deepest yearnings. MORE! MORE! MORE!
