Hey guys,

I am considering purchasing destination points resale. I saw the transfer fees seem to be outrageous. Is there any way around this? maybe if i was added to the deed with someone else and then they drop from the deed later would this avoid the transfer fees?

please help!

If i were to buy 2,000 points what would my fees be to purchase! thanks

Read the thread: Marriott Add On for Resale Points

.

i didn't see anything about being added to someones deed

I am not sure if Marriott would allow anyone else to be added to the deed, but at least you know the answer to how much money in fees you will have to pay for resale points.

No matter what you pay, it will be cheaper than purchasing directly from Marriott.

Please consider spending $15 and becoming a TUG member.

Best of luck!

Thanks, Yes I have a friend who owns who wants out... I thought maybe he could just add me to his deed I can do this for a few hundred bucks... Then like a year later he will drop off the deed via same transfer service... and I would be left as sole owner thus paying ZERO in transfer fees... thoughts?

So you are asking us what we think of you and your buddy committing fraud?

how is this fraud? what if he wants me to add me to help with fees and allow me to book

I sincerely doubt that Marriott would allow this as it would affect their income (from transfer fees, etc.).

I think you may want to speak with a good transfer service to ask their opinion, and whether your idea has been successfully done.

Many of us on TUG use LT Transfers; here is their website....... www.LTTransfers.com

Keep us posted.

This can actually work for almost any timeshare. NOT recommended. Requires a lot of trust and also it means you have to transfer the entire account (since there would not be a new account, just different names.) Very risky IMO

It's fraud and/or dishonest if the intent is to bypass the rules though it might work if you wait long enough between changes. A year likely isn't long enough though, it would likely require 2-3 years.

I'm not sure one would have to transfer the entire account but it will create a new account that's separate if you don't. It likely would make an enrolled week no longer enrolled also. It's less risky for Trust Points I suspect but Marriott could arbitrarily restrict them if they wanted.

Someone who worked in a transfer dept told me that it wasn't unheard of for people to avoid ROFR and transfer fees by adding and subtracting names. Their group didn't make an issue of it b/c to accomplish that (within their group), the account had to stay the same which means the 'entire' account. Therefore, they felt the people doing that were 'one off's', and not worth their time to pursue.

But as soon as account numbers started changing, or adding/sub to existing accounts, the red flags went up and it would be dealt with.

I'm sure, it's a lot of work, trust and some expense so I doubt it'd be enough volume for them to try to police. But they easily could if they thought one was circumventing the transfer rules, all it'd take would be a few clicks on their computer and you'd be locked out. I was responding to your suggestion that one had to transfer the entire account, I know that isn't the case. The only issue (either way really) is whether an enrolled week remains enrolled.
