Can anyone give me the names of some nice resorts in Destin that trade with RCI? What is the best time of year to go there? Is March too early?

Florida Panhandle Newbies. (Us, I Mean.)

We're signed up for a week at Club IntraWest Sandestin in January 2009 via RCI straight-weeks timeshare exchange (i.e., no points, no Last Call, no Extra Vacation, etc.).

We've never been on the Florida Panhandle before.

Our prior Florida vacations have been mainly Jacksonville-Orlando-Tampa-Lakeland-Mulberry-Clearwater-Zephyrhills-Thonotosassa, etc., plus St. Augstine -- with side trips to Rockledge & Melbourne & Ft. Lauderdale.

If we can snag a nice Orlando Last Call or Instant Exchange, we'll take another Florida timeshare week right after Sandestin -- back-to-back January weeks in Florida for the 2nd straight year.

I own two units there. Phase I is the older building, but closer to the beach. However, many units do not have a gulf view. Phase II is the new building consisting of all three-bedroom units. However, it is a longer walk to the beach, but gulf view from all units. We actually have never stayed there, as I usually trade by summer week for other areas. However, I will be staying there in 2010 in the three-bedroom. I own every other year in Phase II.

If the north wind is blowing--yes, March can be cold. Our water pipes have frozen numerous times in Dec, Jan, Feb and March. We have the 4 seasons in the Panhandle and we say winter usually last about 6 weeks. Some years, no frost--. Haven't seen snow either. But Destin gets a lot of snowbirds from up North and Canada. It all depends what your use to.
