Desert Oasis Small 1BR Trading Power?

Can anyone offer some practical insight into the trading power of the smaller 1BR side of a lock-off at SDO. It is a 1-52 float. (Deeded 18)
There are use two of us, no kids. So 1BR's work fine, although the bigger side of the unit obviously works better. We do like Scottsdale, so the unit is not just for trading.

I've read all the great Starwood owners info here, but am just looking some addition input. Thanks.

Camster - If you are interested in trading SDO in II, you should join TUG, because you can then access the member's only TUG Sightings Board where owners post what resorts they can "see" on the II website using various weeks for exchange. You will be able to see what owners have been about to access with a SDO week in the past.

In general - the smaller 1 bdm. trades as well as the larger 1 bdm. In the last few months, owners have been able to exchange for the Starwood Hawaii Resorts and Lagunamar, with SDO weeks, just to name a few. They have also been able to see 2 bdm. units with 1 bdm. units - mostly off-season.

Tug = Great Resource

Thanks Denise. I'm really impressed with the quality of information here... and, being a newbie, a little overwhelmed by it.

For years, I've always had a horrible impression of timeshares based on all the horror stories. But a colleague at work, who owns a couple, suggested I take another look because he said there are some tremendous bargains on resale. Indeed, there are. So, it is suddenly starting to make a lot of sense to me.

Clearly, the lessons learned... and shared... here are outstanding. So, yes, I am going to join.

Thanks much!

Cameron

i have had 3 trades with my sdo.i also own the small 1 br. i got a 2 br near lake tahoe this summer. and just got back from williamsburg, va in a 2 br. and we had a 2 br in sedona last year.

those are the places we wanted to go and the units were great.

I just swapped my small side SDO one bedroom for a two bedroom at Hyatt High Sierra Lodge (Incline, NV) during prime ski season. I also saw numerous possibilities at Westin Ka'anapali, Westin Mission Hills, and Westin Kierland (all shoulder season). I was pleased with the choices presented.

I've been meaning to ask this question for a while. All things being equal ( same 1-52 float period, same size), which voluntary Starwood resorts have the highest trading power within Starwood? How would you rank them in terms of trading power?

Vistana Villages (voluntary sections)
Vistana Resort
Broadway Plantation
Desert Oasis
Lakeside Terrace
PGA Vacation Resort
Mountain Vista
Westin Mission Hills

Thanks.

I am a new SDO owner and recently have been trying to trade into shoulder season (fall) in Maui. I think a lot depends on the week reserved and deposited with II. I have two weeks deposited week 44 and 45. The small 1 BR traded better reserved in week 44 than the deluxe 1 br reserved in week 45. I used the small 1 br week 44 to trade into a 2 br ski week over MLK holiday in Oregon.:D

If you mean a trader within II to see other Starwood properties, then SBP and SDO probably are the highest.

Added later: And I'm still catching up from being gone a few days -- in a HILTON under refurbishment (ewwww). So I didn't see this thread being answered elsewhere.
