had 49k to expire soon, was gonna do reserve and cancel trick for 21k to make a red studio deposit, VC on the phone said no need to do that, to go online and do deposit and select next use year expiration, and it would take all the points from this year first and the remaining from following use year. so that's what I did, hope he was right.

Thanks for sharing the tip. I wish I knew this. It could have saved me an extra transaction fee. I have some points left on my account. Please let us know if it actually works.

well if it works it won't save you an extra transaction fee, it only would use one either way, as you have 24 hours to make multiple transactions with one reservation credit. What it will save you is the difference between the phone reservation fee and the online fee if you are out of credits, phone is $59 and online is $30.

A Reservation transaction is good only for the calendar day - not a 24 hour period. Friday 8AM til Friday close of Wyndham business. Friday 6PM til Friday close of Wyndham business.

Yes, there is a difference of cost of RT fees - online is cheaper, but you then can call in later, to use the VC. :D

thanks for clarification, everything I said still but applies replace 24 hour with calendar day :D

I will let you folks know if what the VC said was correct and if it worked. Will post back later today.

soooo ..... the guy was dead wrong, that is not how it works, and I should have known better to think someone at wyndham understands the system better than a tugger. so I had to contact owner services, they credited me a reservation transaction since the VC documented all the misinformation he gave me. Then I called and did the reserve cancel trick to get what I wanted. Moral of the story, if it sounds to good to be true, it is, but I don't need to tell you guys that.

I know this may sound silly, but could you please explain the "reserve-cnacel trick?" I am some what of a newbie in that regard.
Thanks

sure, this is what you do. For example, I had 49k points and wanted to deposit a 70k studio. So what you do is find a reservation within 90 days for as close to 70k or whatever your desired deposit, since it is within 90 days they allowed me to borrow points from the next use year. Then after the rep on the phone made the reservation, I immediately had her cancel it, which returned all the points to my current use year, as cancelled poitns don't reutrn to the year borrowed from but returned to current year. So after the cancel, I had 70k points available in my current use year, to which I was able to deposit with RCI. hope that made sense.

If you have contracts that overlap the use year (like one start with Jan, the other start with April), and you have enough points left on them for the deposit than it uses to work. Have not deposit for a while, so don't know if it still work this way or not.

If your use year does not overlap, than it does not get lumped when deposit.

new to the deposit RCI thing

I have some Wyndham points that I want to deposit into RCI, do I have to pay the $179 RCI fee when I make the deposits or when I redeem the deposits?

You can make the deposit without charge.

When you decide to search using that deposit (for an ongoing search) then the charge is assessed.

If you just want to search the availability online, then when you find and reserve the time charge is due.

no charge for depositing points, you will be charged when an ongoing request is put in, or an exchange is confirmed.

Thanks Siesta for the info. Sounds like something we might try in the future.

What are the fees charged for doing this? One transaction fee online? Or do you pay again to cancel?

It just uses one reservation transaction by phone, I've never tried the trick solely by online use.
