Depositing Craig Lodges and other HGVC weeks into DEX

I agree that it can be *figured out" but it is nowhere as simple as just booking directly with points and using just (no more, no less) what is needed in all circumstances. I believe that the whole strategy behind the way DEX was set up was to make it as complicated as possible so that extra fees were likely to be collected and points got left on the table (to the developer's benefit). Not everyone spends as much time analyzing room sizes/tiers/what to buy in the first place, in advance of buying a timeshare or making a deposit. That is likely why they are making access free to more resorts - the money is in the trading process, not the "entry" fee. TUG members are not reflective of the average timeshare owner. Many, probably the majority, (outside of TUG) have owned their timeshare for years and are still relatively uninformed about how to use it effectively. Developers encourage this lack of knowledge and make communication between owners/members virtually impossible within the timeshare club itself. The one way around this is if one discovers TUG or a good FB group to obtain knowledge.

I agree completely with your statements. I also rather just use HGVC to book because I don't have any fees (since I am Legacy EP) to book or cancel. I am only using DEX to get to a few places with I don't have access to such as former Embarc properties and Cabo Azul. If I could use my Legacy HGVC points to book those places, I would rather do that.

i also used DEX to extend my summer '26 scotland trip for a week at another property. not a bad use, if you decide to visit CL one homeweek someday.

I like it for other options in Europe, Asia, and maybe Africa...

For us, it is really Sandestin, Cabo, and Europe with options in Asia

None are in Japan but Anantara is in DEX EU and they have nice properties. The one on Koh Samui, Thailand is in White Lotus

We have similar access via DeX EU but not the 299/week style weekly cash rates...

We have a similar daily type Destination Xtras rate but nothing nice or special (like RCI offloads many weeks at the 299/329/349 price point, which are a steal... Have seen many Sedona HVC resorts come up there but the daily $25 resort fee adds 175 for the week, so the 349 becomes >500/week, still cheaper than staying just a weekend in a hotel room in Sedona but would be nice if we had them sell similar access via DeX withOUT the resort fees (which we, as DeX EU qualifying owners don't pay)...

What’s up with the different versions of DEX having different cash deals? It sounds like we better bombard DEX EU with inquiries about getting the 299/week destination xtra that Embarc has.

If they have extra inventory to sell off why not just open to all DEX versions?

Examples shared by @cd5 was for a studio, off season, in AZ for 119 per night (x7 for a week long rate = >$800/week)
Here is the same unit at same loxn, for $67/night for us, via DeX EU (likely different dates)..
Also second screenshot is the daily rate for a week long stay, in same unit at same loxn..

Thanks for looking at that. Sorry I wasn’t super clear but I was talking about the perk they were talking about above for discount weeks on DEX at cash value. If we added that to DEX EU it would be on fire

Agree...
Unfortunately all they currently have are daily cash rates; same that we access at DeX EU via CL as in Embarc; nothing different for cash weekly stays, yet...
Agree 100% that it would be awesome if they added these RCI like last minute bargains for 299/week (or higher, as appropriate)...

Just signed paperwork for first CL 1 bed. Looking forward to Dex eu. Thankful to this thread to know to what to expect. Hoping experience has made them better.
